WHEW! NC State survives and wins at Miami for the first time since February 24, 2007. The Wolfpack Women advance to 23-3, 12-3 ACC. Miami falls to 13-13, 5-10 ACC.
NC State shot 34.9% from the floor on 19 of 55 shooting, 4 of 19 from THREE and was 8 of 13 from the FT line. Miami finished the game shooting 29.1% on 16 of 55 from the field, 8 of 25 from THREE and 8 of 12 from the FT line.
Leading scorer, and player of the game no doubt, was Jakia Brown-Turner. The freshman had a career high 18 points on 7 of 11 from the field, including the game winner with 2.9 seconds left. She was 4 of 6 from THREE and grabbed 6 rebounds. Elissa Cunane finished with 15 points, struggling once again from the field but feasting from the FT line. Ace Konig contributed 7 points, and Jada Boyd added 6 very important points late in the game.
For Miami, Destiny Harden paced the Hurricanes, with 15 points and Mykea Gray added 11.
NC State outrebounded Miami 45-33. Kayla Jones grabbed 10 boards, and Elissa Cunane grabbed 7 rebounds. For Miami, the leading rebounder were Brianna Jackson and Destiny Harden, with 7 boards apiece.
NC State committed 20 turnovers, while Miami had 13. Miami had 13 points off turnovers, while NC State had 9.
Miami had 11 steals, NC State 4. NC State led in points in the paint, 22-12.
This marked Wes Moore's first win against Miami on the road.
