As a 'younger guy' who went to UConn in the '90's, girls who went to all girl's Catholic school in Jersey were best thing that ever happened to me my freshman year in Storrs. Now, 20 years later as a father of two (thankfully not teenagers yet) boys living in Jersey, those same girls are now evil and I will not let my boys anywhere near them, never mind date them. I am way too young to be a grandfather.
lol which one?

lol which one?

Wasn't a detail I asked for; but, I do recall they were from Bergen County, so it's IHA, Holy Angels, or IC.

PS - My Mother-in-Law got kicked out of IC; but, to this day, she has not told her kids what she did to get kicked out in the 60's.

Well...maybe Jersey girls do deserve the reputation.

After evening Chem exam my freshman year in the old chem building, my lab partner, a fiery Hispanic alum of an all-girls Catholic HS from Bergen County who had been giving me lessons on human physiology on the side, invited me to a dorm party in Towers. After many, many drinks, she introduced me to her friend, a tall, blonde German expat who went to Trinity Catholic in CT. The three of us celebrated our own Holy Trinity back in my single dorm later that night (my freshman roommate had already drank himself out of school by then). Needless to say, while I am proud of that story, for the most part (I did have a Calc exam the next morning, which I completely missed), I need to keep what is left of my hair and sanity, thus, my boys are prohibited.

Well...I graduated from HS back in the Late Pleistocene (1964)...Joined the Corps and the girls that were willing back then weren't exactly the kind to take home to mom.

Made it back to school in time for the peace marches, sit ins, Janice and Jimmie and hippie free love.

The entire American sexual world changed in what seemed like a blink of the eye...the 50's died in the mid 60's. Gone were men's hats, white shirts, crew cuts, and women's bra's.

My parents blamed the Beatles...but I knew...I knew it was the Stones.

I would argue that music only reflected society. The Pill, which hit the market in 1960 and had 6.5 million users by 1965, had a lot to do with it.

.-.
Yeah it's cyclical. In the early 90's we lived the 50's. Everyone was afraid to get the AIDS - so not a lot
of fun.

Was her friend's name Fritz or Frieda, not that I'm judging....

I got married in 1965 and pretty much missed all the fun.
To be honest I really have no regrets. Some of my friends actually never survived that crazy period. Never saw drugs until some of my buddies returned from Nam.

If you did the math its my 50th wedding anniversary this year.
We were planning to go to Europe but my wife is a little afraid now
Ah well....I'm with the Piano Man

I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun.

But I do get it...It is personal with BC...can't deny.
BC ,and Cuse
We understand Somewahat the BC thing.
But Cuse ,turning on an orginal Big East brother, who we thought we had a significant relationship with with really hurt. The Cuse board creation was aided by this boards creator ,heck we annually have a joint board Super Bowl pool. It actually was Cuse leaving the Big East that was the coup de grace for that conference but looking out for your best interests is not something you sustain anger over.
.But some of Those things are not easily forgotten.
With Pitt my only complaint is they lead the coalition to turn down the last ESPN offer.
I never actually considered them a core Big East School. If they and WVA left it's quite possible the Big East could still survive.,
If you just added Central FLA and Memphis
You still have the best BB conference in the country and a decent football conference.

Pitt and Syracuse are dead to me, period.

Especially Syra.... - they will never be a friend to UConn since we out paced them academically and athletically.

Syra.... sees it as a matter of survival as they try to maintain some cache as an overpriced, second tier private institution located in a city that makes Hartford look like Paris. Having us in the same conference again would just remind people that you can go to a better school, with better athletics for 40% of the cost. When UConn passed Syra.... on both fronts they knew they had to distance themselves from us. They will continue to work that angle rest assured.

"Makes Hartford look like Paris." That line cracked me up. I have the misfortune of visiting Syracuse every so often for work related reasons, and it never ceases to amaze me what a depressing place it seems to be. Whether I go in Jan or July I swear it is overcast and gray. Driving around it reminds me of old video clips of communist Eastern Europe. Bleak and miserable. I half expect to see a 90 year old lady with a babushka roll past The Carrier Dome on an ox drawn cart.

Actually Sandra. As intoxicated as I was, I clearly remember myself and my Jersey girl shouting out her name in admiration several times that night ;)

There is some ACC Network info that can be released. All of it fits the script with the exception of the UVA nugget which I wll save last

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
ACC network will go live in 2/3 years with Disney having ownership and with deal constructed in the same manner as the SEC Network. 50/50...

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
.....splits on the profits (subscriptions). Most of the content ESPN sold of ACC products will have been purchased back 1 manner or another

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
Raycom will remain its own company but will be prime sub contractor in providing infastructure to the new ACC Network. Not all other ACC....

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
...content that was sold by ESPN has been purchased back but most of it has been.....and some of this repurchased content was Fox Sports

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
Notre Dame will have no stake in the new ACC Network.....and of course NBC never became involved in any serious talks....at this time

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
When the new ACC Network becomes public all entities will pump rainbows into the sky to help guide the PR behind the new ACC network.

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
This pumping of the rainbows needs to happen....this is about selling the ACC Network to fanbases...cable providers....Corporate America

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
But there is a bit of a crack in the ACC venture into creating a network with Disney which I alluded to a couple of months ago....well.....

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
....here it goes and I dont believe this info will stay dormant througout the next year. Some schools in ACC are all-in on the concept ACCN

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
....but some schools are not all-in on the concept of the ACCN. Yes, all 14 schools are of course in the ACCN...but some schools are not...

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
...willing to create more content for the ACCN. UVA, again is pushing for a 9 game football conference schedule. UVA wants to max out....

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
the content on the ACCN. But many schools in the ACC do not want to give up their assured 7th home game. UVA-Littlepage want ACC all-in....

Greg Flugaur @flugempire · 2h 2 hours ago
This is really the first piece of evidence of a crack forming between UVA and the ACC. We believe the UVA/ACC crack will show in public...

Greg Flugaur‏@flugempire 2h2 hours ago
....after the first wave of rainbow/unicorn pumping of sunshine with the development of the new ACC Network. Watch Littlepage comments

@flugempire this must mean that negotiations with Big Ten are not going as planned. ESPN does not have enough channels for SEC/ACC net + B10

Doug ‏@NebGradDubDub 1h1 hour ago
@flugempire my guess is CBS or NBC is getting a game of the week. FOX ESPN split tier 1-2 rights. No more 11 am starts.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire 1h1 hour ago
@NebGradDubDub I think everything you just stated has a whole lotta logic behind its conclusion. CBS will be bidding....NBC is fascinating

AJ Tech ‏@tech_aj 33m33 minutes ago
@NebGradDubDub @expansion_crush @flugempire how does that make sense? They'd create a new channel like they did for SEC, which gives them...

AJ Tech ‏@tech_aj 32m32 minutes ago
@NebGradDubDub @expansion_crush @flugempire ...even more room for content from other leagues.

Daniel Mountcastle ‏@expansion_crush 2h2 hours ago
@flugempire 50/50 including expenses

Greg Flugaur‏@flugempire 2h2 hours ago
@expansion_crush Yes

Daniel Mountcastle ‏@expansion_crush 2h2 hours ago
@flugempire some the $$ will be minimal for a few years. Start up expenses

This would be a positive for UConn because UConn can drive subscriptions within it's expanded footprint. Like most of us I'd rather be in the B1G, so hopefully this causes them to move on UConn to prevent the ACC from getting a significant stake in NYC.

G5 schools with resources to match P5 spending have a chance to demonstrate institutional commitment to football.

Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 22h 22 hours ago
@AB670 But nothing has changed. Don’t wait for a B12 expansion presser anytime soon.

Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 22h 22 hours ago
@AB670 I have outlined two realistic scenarios where the B12 expands but only when new TV deal is near.

Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 19h 19 hours ago
@Martyaborg B1G raids ACC. B12 & SEC take a few too.

Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 19h 19 hours ago
@Martyaborg Fox forces B12 to expand for next TV contract & overpays. Only if UT on board with B12N.

Christopher Lambert @theDudeofWV · 19h 19 hours ago
@Martyaborg 3rd scenario is B1G raids B12. Only possible at end of GoR.

Jim USN_Mustang ‏@GatorBuc2 · 21h21 hours ago
.@theDudeofWV no reason Cincinnati can't produce at the level Louisville has achieved

‏@theDudeofWV @GatorBuc2 UL would be in the AAC had UMD stayed in ACC. Think about that…

Hey happy upcoming 50th @AZHuskiePop

Have to hope if there's an ACC expansion, their TV partners will strongly suggest they take UConn that would override any animosity from our frenemies.

I'm not saying it is going to happen, but money trumps animosity

LOL. I love this Ross guy totally schooling the "Dud." How soon this clown forgets how precarious his own school's position was just a scant few seasons ago. If any of the 4 Big 12 defectors decided to stay put, The Dude would be checking Hotels.com for October rates in Tulsa, Ok.

Few things are actually less interesting than NBC bidding on sports properties. They don't, unless you pretend the Olympics are sports.

Mike Ross ‏@Mike_ohio26 · 3h3 hours ago
@theDudeofWV @GatorBuc2 your saying Big 12 expansion was happening even if Missouri and Texas A & M stayed ? We know thats not true

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
@Mike_ohio26 @GatorBuc2 No I’m not. Not saying that at all. If Miizzou had stayed WVU was headed to SEC.

Mike Ross ‏@Mike_ohio26 · 2h2 hours ago
@theDudeofWV @GatorBuc2 WV was turned down by the SEC guess you forgot about all those stories back then

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
@Mike_ohio26 @GatorBuc2 WV was not turned down. Again you have no clue. You should know better.

Mike Ross ‏@Mike_ohio26 · 2h2 hours ago
@theDudeofWV @GatorBuc2 so your calling Brett McMurphy a lair? http://athlonsports.com/news/sec-and-acc-says-no-west-virginia

I like your optimism, but I don't think the B1G will move on UConn because of this threat. It appears that UConn has been vetted by the B1G already. However, lack of AAU membership makes this an extreme long shot. Our so called "friends" at ESPN however can help out UConn here as they will be essentially controlling the ACCN. That could open up an invite for UConn, but it also seems unlikely because of FSU and BCU objections.

.-.
Please stop with the AAU nonsense.
Which one?
That UConn will never get AAU membership or that UConn will never get in the BIG due to lack of AAU membership?
I've seen both arguments.

My view:
- 20 years of steady improvement and state investment will get UConn AAU status.
- Lack of AAU membership won't stand in the way of B1G membership if UConn can maintain and grow its athletic programs.

But I wouldn't say the contrary views are nonsense. Just extremely pessimistic. A reflection of despair in the opinion-stater more than of reality.

Just because we're dealing with a dumb FSU poster does not make FSU our enemy. FSU pushed hard for LV not because of any animosity to us but because they viewed the inclusion of LV as in their interest. You won't get through life successfully if you treat everyone who doesn't do what you want as if they are actually your enemy. If taking us is in FSU's interest, they will support us. If they don't, they won't.

I am an old man who has led a very successful life. Someone who turns their back on me (like FSU with UConn) or tries to harm me (like BCU with UConn) becomes my enemy. That is they way I am.

I hit the "like" button for you Buddy because I appreciate your candor and steadfast support. However, I do look at BC differently than FSU. We had no relationship or history with FSU and thus could expect nothing from them (nor them from us). BC is different - they made a point of telling the world that they purposely screwed us out of bitterness that we created. We had given them a plausible excuse for doing so with the BS lawsuit. But IMO it was just a pretense for them so the real reason could remain unspoken. The real reason is that they don't want to compete with us - plain and simple. I am sure they went along with the LV add for similar reasons. Hard to believe that they would vote to add a substandard school just to continue to avoid us, but I believe that is what happened.

I was one of the earliest proponents of UConn to the B1G ,I still think that's the best match we can make. They have the right blend of Acedemic's and athletics .

I have no love for the the ACC
Having said that the decision to take Louisville over us was done in panic mode ,with FSU and thier Siamese Twin Clemson were almost out the door.
FSU was appeased by the Cardinal addition a program they actually had a history with. Actually their loyality to ,I believe ,an old Conference foe is laudable. We can have no beef with them. Their rep on this board although sometimes a pain gets a pass for no other reason than he is a Marine. (Ex and Marine are never used together).
Since my Sainted older brother was a BAR man in the second Marine decision he get a pass from me. I grew up reading leatherneck magazine.
If only our old conference mates exhibited as much loyality.
Any anger should be directed at them , BCU, Syracuse, Pitt, Miami, and VPI, who actually had a nasty history with the birds from Kentucky.
