Did you see that UNC and Wake Forest just announced an "out of conference" home and home football deal? Yes, the UNC and Wake Forest that are both in the ACC! I guess that is one way to ensure that your conference teams don't lose to a non-P5 school and hurt your conference RPI statistics! College football just gets more up and ridiculous by the season.

There should be an outcry from non P-5 schools about this. It's a corruption of the system. If the NCAA had any teeth they would call it into question as well. Filling a non-conference schedule with a conference foe but saying it isn't--- is Orwellian.

Hey, if the Big 12 can have 10 teams and the Big 10 can have 14....why can't two schools who have been conference mates for 40+ years play a few non-conference games?

These are only a collection of elite institutions of higher learning. Logic, reason, and common sense should not cone into play.

Are they in separate divisions? Too lazy to look but if they are it's possible that they play about as often as we play Buffalo

That's the point - they are in separate divisions and want to play more often than the conference schedule allows. I don't see an issue with that.

Their both in North Carolina right? These schools get it, regional rivalry, what college was all about. Wish Uconn would play BC, regardless of conference.

I think this is a symptom of conferences being too big. They are so big thay can't even play your in conference next door neighbor every few years. Dumb as heck.

It shuts teams like UConn out of scheduling these schools. It's nepotism at best and incest at worst.

Technically you are right. But if we were part of the ACC, and did it with BC because we wanted an annual rivalry game (in the chance that we were not in the same side), people would be fine with it.

This is what it is like on the outside looking in.

Think of it this way. UNC and Wake are (probably) never going to play in the playoff. So why not just play games that maximize value to their fan bases? I don't "like" it either, but hard for me to fault the logic.

Pretty soon it will be P5, then everyone else. The goal for P5 is to separate themselves from the rest. Like it or not, we are not part of the chosen few and there is only one way to get there...win.

It's a smart move and great for the fans since the schools are only 1.5 hrs apart. Also keeps the travel dollars down. I think you are going to see more of this because of 12-16 teams leagues. As stated above it helps the in state rivalries.

What do you propose, forcing them to play certain teams?

Another event that will make folks realize the P-5 (P is short for pulling) has removed what ever teeth the NCAA had. The NCAA at the hands of the P-5 has now been relegated to what could be call the PT-NCAA. That would be Paper Tiger....

Cuse football has complained they recruit Miami big time, but because of the ACC set-up they play Miami in FL every 6 yrs.
