I brought this up in the other post but since there seems to be more discussion in this one its probably better here, if the NCAA doesn't have the power to to make you oblige to their requests, why can't Boatright's mom just ignore their requests to see bank statements and balances? The NCAA will have no clue what money she has in her account if they don't see it, all they have is the word of some ex boyfriend saying she received money. I know the NCAA is a corupt organization to begin with but no way they can say someone is ineligible based on that, I wouldn't hand over a damn thing to them.

Absolutely agree with you on the second piece. I'm not as confident as you are on the first piece's "facts" though. We only know Rose has been a "family friend" for many years...he also happens to be the kid's basketball coach and has a bunch of other basketball connections...he might not be registered as an agent. And while it sounds nice to say someone gave her money to go with her son to visit colleges, again was it $350 for a flight on Southwest or a few thousand? Was it done for a good reason or to to encourage her to encourage Ryan to be his mealticket, too, down the line? I'm not saying either of those things apply, but this whole mess seems to me to be open to interpretation. To say the least. And as I have said consistently, it doesn't sound like Boatright or UCONN are much, if at all, to blame. Yet they're are the ones being penalized.

You are correct in that no one knows what Reggie Rose's intentions were/are except for him. On the flip side, assuming it was only for flights to visit schools (5 officials = $1,500 minimum) you can be pretty clear on Boatright's mothers intentions, that is why I said it was for a good reason. Whereas Cam Newton's dad was reportedly just looking for a payday to set himself up, Boatright's mom was looking to find a way to travel to visit colleges with her son. Those are two vastly different areas of intent. Of course, they end up being labelled and viewed in the same/similar light.

You are correct he does have a ton of basketball connections and was Ryan's AAU coach and normally I would agree with you that this could be setting up Ryan as a meal-ticket down the road. However, I would find it odd that the brother of Derrick Rose would need to set Ryan Boatright up as a future meal-ticket, though I guess anything is possible.

Either way, the NCAA has already ruled on that piece (forcing Boatright to miss the first 6 games, which was somewhat fair by the letter of the rule) and that really shouldn't be a concern ATM. The details concerning the X-mas money/cash is the concern for Boatright and UConn right now and the amount of detail is just vastly underwhelming to have an opinion either way.

I agree with you.
