They suck because of the lack of coaching.

Put Foley in charge of the line. He was really good at for almost 20 years and then Uconn hired him and he was still really good at it.

GDL? Not even close.

Whitmer is dropping back, the edge rushers get on him, then he panics and tries to run.

This isn't rocket science, 3 step drops, stay up in the pocket, fire the ball. Our receivers are plenty capable of getting open on Towson. Maybe not on Maryland, but Towson for sure.

Partly. But come on. They aren't talented either.

Seems like Whitmer is setting up with short drop which requires quick throws. After tip/interception they took lot of this away re rushing into his sight lanes. No quick release and play is dead. Brees plays well back in pocket to see/get passing lanes.
Still don't like the passes straight down the line to sidelines, seems he has trouble being accurate and guys drop.

simplify the blocking and go back to basics. Let them battle and build some fight. They couldn't push Towson off the line.... that's not talent. Its lack of aggression and attitude. They have the size and power. This goes back zone blocking. Same problem as always. They have taken the fight out of the OL. They need start grinding like animals. This has GDL written all over it.

If it was me, I'd scrap the old thing and go back to a basic play book and focus on execution and winning at every position.

most of these guys are not zone blockers their smash mouth style blockers. I think maybe Hemmingway who we all saw tonight is not ready to play was from the pp/gdl recruit of zone blocking. No excuses after 3 years of this, but there not putting the players in the best position to win and flourish..

I don't think it's the OLine talent, but the scheme. Forget zone blocking schemes. Let's go back to smash mouth football.

He is an average quarterback who can make throws when he has time and doesn't have to move in the pocket. Then he becomes a below average quarterback that is inaccurate

Time to play Casey

Casey is even less athletic and impressive than Whitmer. He has great command in the huddle but his arm is not as accurate or strong. I said it after open practice an that sny dude seems to write the same.. To my eyes ...Boyle is the future. It's not unheard of to start a true freshmen.. My eyes also told me hypolite is better than mccombs but hell I'm not coach pasqualoni... I'm not qualified to make those judgements. I'm not qualified to say that out oline has regressed to below 1AA level since GDL... I just am not qualified to note those points. I'm just a casual fan..

Did not realize that Friend and Bullock did not play tonight. As for judging Whitmer....no one could have completed passes tonight with our OL breaking down so much.

Once Davis and Phillips were taken out of the game there was no one to throw to. No TE's, no slot threat and no depth at WR with an OL that is melting down every play...that's on Whitmer?

Casey can read a defense and moves enough to get his passes off imho. I watched him a few times in high school "I know that's not college" but he has a great football sense which you cannot teach.

The right side of the line was porous to say the least. Why wasn't there a extra blocker put over there to help them out. Instead Hemminway got beat a number of times in one on one situations. That's coaching as well folks.

When some OL whiff on a goal line situation its not just the coaching. Then there is the coaching...
Hemingway is an Ivy League size OT as of now. Should have had more/better TE help, Oh wait...

The O-line played like a sieve for defensive linemen. It's unacceptable. The D-line had very little pressure on the qb. Total zyztems failure.

You whiff because your schemes are bad. Belichick talked last week about how even he can't tell when an opposing linemen screws up because he doesn't know what the responsibilities are.

Here's what I see: people running around the edges on our tackles because Whitmer is taking deep drops and then he thinks he can run out of there. What is a tackle supposed to do? Whitmer takes the same deep drop and they are chasing a much speedier guy downfield, then Whitmer turns upfield. The tackles don't have eyes behind their heads. They are being put into a position to fail.

In the first quarter, when Whitmer was taking shorter drops and actually stepping up in the pocket, he had all day. The OLs job was a ton easier. They didn't have much to show for it, but at least it looked like they could get it done.

Weist probably called plays early before DeLeone took over.

Brees is a heady mobile QB. We're talking about putting Whitmer in a position to succeed. Brees can actually run and get out of tight spots. And, actually, the same stuff happens to Brees around the edges because he needs deep drops (he's short) but he can elude them. Doug Flutie was the same way. Unfortunately, we don't have Brees or Flutie back there.

Don't blame it on the kids. It's all design and development.

Sorry. When a FCS rushes 3 and our lineman can't do crap, its not just coaching. Its players who can't make plays.
