not much length inside. If I had to go man by man--we have more talent than them despite the *consensus*. If we play hard and smart--we should win. I hope Shabazz and crew look at all the disrespect they are getting which prompts them to play even harder. I'm a little disgusted by it and I think they must be too. We beat a lot of good teams this year and had only 1 bad game. Right now we are playing really good D the best I have seen all year--we are rebounding and staying tough inside. In terms of pure NBA hoops talent I think we have the two best players Napier and Daniels. Florida is a tough mentally and physically but I think people are missing out that so are we!!

Young is a physical beast. Anyone who thinks he can't play in the NBA isn't looking hard enough.

I went to NBAdraft.net to see what "experts" think of Florida players, and surprisingly nobody from Florida is projected in either round. For comparison they list three of Michigan States players (another surprise).

He's a strong dude. But lets get real--he avg 10 points--hes not scary. We have to keep Frazier in line--he could have 8-3's in any game hes a 45% shooter from 3. I'm sure Patric Young can be a decent role player in the NBA--I think Shabazz Napier can be a very good starting NBA PG which is another level higher. I think we have the best player of both teams. I think the NBA might value Daniels skills and size more than anyone from Florida. The best NBA prospect only plays 5 minutes--Walker. I know this is an older mature tough team--an dthat is going to be trouble--but this over kill of how we are so inferior is mind boggling.

Florida is obviously a very good team but I agree they do not have that super-star they can lean on. If you look at many of their regular season games they never really put a 'hurtin on any of the decent teams as many stayed in arms reach, including NCAA tournament (except for Pitt game). I posted in February asking about Florida ( http://the-boneyard.com/threads/ot-florida-gators.53634/ ) and why they did not score waves of buckets. UConn needs to play that tough defense from the MSU game, and we will be in the game to win it. We have Bazz and they don't!

UConn is unfazed by the talking heads. If you listen to the presser after we beat MSU Deandre talks about their visit to Jerry's world back during our regular season Texas trip. The squad knew they could get back there, that they had the talent and ability, it would just take hard work. They are on a mission no matter who we face. 2011 team had this mission mindset as well. no matter who they face i think we can win at this point. Talking heads are irrelevant. theyve been completely wrong thus far about us, i guess they just don't get the UConn way

Fortunately for FLA this isn't the NBA.I definitely think we can beat them but they certainly have stars in the college game. I'm sure of this because I can name their starting 5.

Young had ONE double double this year (against Albany!) at 6'9 and 240. The stats for this "beast" have been 10 and 6 for his last 3 years. Almost exactly. Little or no improvement yet has been surrounded by very good players. He is not mobile and has zero chance of playing in the NBA. Just my take :)
He may want to try out for the NFL, instead.

If we were to play high schoolers they would play like a NBA draftees against us. Our uniform causes teams to play at another level. For any other team Florida players may seen simply above average, but against UConn that goes out the window.

Its our albatross of being an elite, Championship pedigree and highly competitive team. We are like the pretty lady that everyone tries their best to fk and become depressed when they don't get to. With that said Florida will be extra motivated because they got a whiff of the pssy (so close) back in December.

However we are grown ass men so they will search for it Saturday but won't find it, because like before men (and now grown ass men) don't have one.

No stars, but Wilbekin, Smith, Prather, Hill, Frazier, Young, and Yeguette are all very good college players. They play very well together, too. They're tough b/c you can't really focus on "stopping" one guy.

The same was said about Michigan State!
