Nova has a good record, 16-3. Ranked #25 (USA Today) until the new poll comes out. Not a bad SOS #39. Nova uses a lot of players. 8 players avg at least 20 minutes. Not a lot of height, all decent size. 5-9 to 6-2. (No shorties on the dance flo). However, they are not a good rebounding team. Should be able to keep them to a lot of 1 and done. Not a lot of Offensive rebounds which means they probably don’t crash the OFF boards but rather get back on defense. Which with their propensity to NOT turn the ball over, means UCONN isn’t going to get many fast break points. Gonna have to run our half court offense. We might be able to make up for it by hitting the OFF boards ourselves and getting second chance points.
As always when we play Nova, will have to play defense for a good 30 seconds every Nova possession. Will be, as always, a slow methodical half court game. Of course they shoot lots of 3’s (470 so far this year, UCONN has taken 457). UCONN will have to guard the perimeter. Even the bigs.
Don’t expect a high scoring game. Nova shouldn’t get out of the 40’s. UCONN should be able to get to the 60’s, but not much higher. 64-46.
