It was mentioned that we would play in the 2021 Maui Invitational...looks like that's not the case. Hoping for a big name tournament for 2021 still.

What a weak field for a normally strong event

No blue bloods or guaranteed Top 10 teams, but besides Chaminade, every one of them is capable of being Top 25.

This is the rare tournament where being relegated to the loser's bracket isn't a death sentence to your RPI. Still good teams on both sides.

Said the same thing when I saw it this morning. No UConn, Kentucky, Gonzaga, Duke, UNC, Michigan St or Kansas, the teams who have been staples of that tournament over the past 2 decades.

How do people define "blue bloods" around here?

.-.
Houston and A&M the same year? Seems odd to have two from Houston metro the same year.

Not mad about missing out with that field. Strange not seeing any big boys. Perhaps a PK80 2.0 is in the works??

Gonzaga = Blueblood? One final 4 appearance? The dopes from upstate NY would have an argument on that.
Exactly, how'd anyone arrive at this list as being the "blue bloods". I can point you to any number of different "blue blood teams" lists that don't include UConn or Michigan St. and certainly don't include Gonzaga.

@ucp990411 @87Xfer true, you're both correct - let me clarify. The true blue bloods would probably be UCLA, Indiana, Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and UNC.

For the history of the Maui, the perennial headlining teams (and perennial top 10 programs as participants) have typically come among the group of UConn, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Michigan St and Zaga. I was referencing the "Maui Blue Bloods" from the past 2 decades.

Much as I hate to say it, probably need to put Arizona in there too

Now that makes total sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Is it possible we were supposed to go but were replaced with Houston since Butler was already promised the spot from the Big East?

Atlantis is the new Maui. Cheaper and easier to get to, not as far for East Coast/Midwest schools.
Exactly. I love Atlantis and The Bahamas. I want to go next time we are in the Battle 4 Atlantis. Does anybody know what the ticket packages were like the last time we played there?

Not me. I equate it with bad memories and donuts
