I'm sure it costs to bus the band around even just to the Rent. That happens multiple times. And there are probably all kinds of other costs associated with such a large group. You can bet the university is looking to save nickels at this point.

As an ancient Marching Band member, that sucks. I’m not sure people realize how much rehearsal time the band puts in during the season and especially game weeks.

Sucks. If they’re already canceling band at winter sports, it’s more about $$$ than safety.

Don’t care the size or ability of a group, they add so much to the atmosphere, really sucks.

Wife just said upon hearing this from me we should all bring kazoos. Not sure who would organize us though. I knew this year would be very different but sad for the Band. They are great!

I will ask my daughter. She graduated 10 years ago and was very active with the band for 6 years including through grad school. She is very pissed about this.
