No from Geno

You won't watch the UConn women? It would be the perfect antidote for the dry heaves from watching the UConn men. Or at least a palliative.

People like this with no clue in the difference of the games are why we go crazy. You want dry heaves? Watch 80% of the womens games when it's over after 100-2 run in the first half because the other team is putrid,

Just stay over there, we don't need the rhetoric crap of how great his motion offense is and how great he can coach because he can discipline players it's not even close to the same world. 4 year women wit most having their sights set on a great education and being part of a consistent winning program, the best in the business vs. kids who all think they are good enough to go pro after a year or 2 and hardly listen to a teaching point. Give this a break it all sounds really stupid, again he said no let's no argue over why they should try it will go no where fast, as it is!!!!

Great work by Jacobs here, Jesus. He should now see if Edsall has interest.
Nancy Stevens. I mean she's the probably the best coach in her sport.

[QUOTE="August_West, post: 2625689, member: 1047"Luckily for Geno, and Womens basketball, he is too yellow-bellied (and in another way savvy about keeping his current status intact) to try.[/QUOTE]

Actually a solid point by A Dubs here. Why would Geno leave what he has? He can just get another undefeated season of 50 pt wins next year...and the year after that. Why try something that would be a challenge? And if he succeeded? He really WOULD get credibility with the great men’s coaches of all time. Nope. Continue being the big kid in 6th grade who hits homers in little league.

Yellow bellied, indeed.

Geno’s ego and hubris would be the only thing that would make him leave the lofty perch he’s currently on to take on the Men’s coaching challenge. But after building his incredible HOF reputation (with some help from CD) he’s much too smart to do it. As for the debate on whether Geno could succeed with the men, I guess those of who you don’t believe he could do it also believe John Wooden couldn’t coach women.

agree with all this but would also add "yellow-bellied" after smart.

Hm, weird.

Can't imagine why a guy with no recruiting chops or coaching experience in the men's game wouldn't want to try to rebuild a dying program with an ultracritical, pissed off fanbase.

Whatever regrets Geno has about not getting into the men's game, I'm sure they pale in comparison to all the positive press he gets from the media for his gaudy numbers. Geno literally is women's basketball, as messed up as that may sound. There are other good coaches, but no one really pays them much mind. And the players ultimately come and go. And no one watches the WNBA. Women's basketball is the Geno show, 24/7.

LOL at your deep-seated resentment. Get some fresh air. You’ll live longer.

Mau, with all due respect, you seem to be strung a tad too tightly.

I don't want to see Geno as UConn's mens basketball coach. I never mentioned that.

I concur with most, if not all, of your points regarding the differences between the mens and the womens game. But our congruency here is not relevant given what I had stated in my post.

My post was a response to a poster's dismissal of the womens team as worthy of viewing. I saw irony in a person willing to watch a generally dysfunctional mens team that was often hard on the eyes, yet unwilling to partake of a generally fluent, efficient, highly functional womens team that is hard on "his" eyes. That point was punctuated with a dash of snarkiness while suggesting that viewing the womens games could be a tonic to the disappointing ongoing mens season (and for the football season for that matter). It worked to a degree for me. My wife is principally a womens fan, so I watch many games with her.(It also helps with the what-are-we-going-to-do-together department). I realize that most of the games become blowouts, but it is not the games, as much as, admiring the entirety of the product and feeling good about it.

Look, I'm a fan of all UConn sports. But I'm wed to the mens basketball game. I die with the mens team. While on the Boneyard, I spend 99% of my time on the mens basketball board. I've never posted on the womens board.

I have a question for you: Why don't you criticize Whaler or August, or others, that clearly state their interest in Geno being head coach of the men and thereby drive you crazy? And while you're doing that, suggest to them that they leave the mens bball board and only post on the womens board.

Speaking of Geno, the women just dropped 55 in the first quarter!
