these players wait til they get to college to have the surgery so they're covered by the team's insurance and the staff can monitor and have some say-so about the situation

Are they covered by UConn insurance? Or is it individual?

I believe once a player signs a letter of intent injuries can be covered by the school even if happen outside of playing the sport. Caroline Doty for example tore her ACL playing soccer and UCONN doctors did the surgery and UCONN trainers did her rehab at her High School.

"UConn incoming freshman guard Crystal Dangerfield underwent hip surgery on Friday to repair a preexisting injury and the school announced that she is expected to be fully recovered in time for the preseason. "

Not just an injury, but an injury requiring surgery per Jim Fuller.

Given that it was described as a , " pre-existing condition," I am pleased to hear she had surgery.

Hopefully, that will result in a healthy condition. Not one we'll all worry about for 4 years ( not to mention Crystal ).

Brianna Banks before that and Bria Hartley. Also Courtney. When was the last time UCONN did not have someone injured?
The number and who was/is injured does not matter to the WCBB world---Uconn Women will alway's be in the top 4 no less than 10. Personally, even with injuries, I expect Uconn women to be in the Final 4 this coming year. Then 12, 13, 14, 15,16 unless Geno gets generous--but he hates to lose.

With this injury to Little Miss Danger do not expect her to hit the ground running in October. Expect to see a starting backcourt of Nurse and Chong. Expect to see Molly getting significant minutes at least until January. Expect to see Geno leaning heavily on Gabby to sub up front and in the backcourt. Also when Gabby subs at the 2 expect to see Kyla up front in combination with Lou, Pheese and Butler. We might be seeing a lot of Kyla.

What do the numbers 12 through 16 represent?
