Big game today? If we win we finish at least .500 on the season. Is there a chance that puts us NIT bound? Can’t remember what the rules are to get into NIT if you’re a big enough name (which maybe once upon a time we were!)

NIT no longer requires a .500 record.

NIT does however automatically give bids to conference regular season winners that didn’t win their conference tournament.

Not sure what “metrics” they use but we honestly don’t have much of a shot

Win the whole shebang and steal a bubble slot.
That's the best/probably only way.

Of the 32 NIT teams, a number are already set.
  1. Radford or Cambell (or both?)
  2. Hofstra
  3. Drake or Loyola (or both?)
  4. South Dakota State

Lipscomb, Wright State, Belmont, Bucknell, and St. Francis tied for the regular season titles of their conference, but didn't win.

So that's 4 that are definitely spoken for (and more to come), and potentially 7, depending on the rules.

Actually that would knock over a bubble team in the tourney

The football team got a bowl game bid at 6-6. So you never know. But NO chance they get into the NIT.

Basically, we'd need to get our NET rating into the 70s to have a legit shot. You figure in addition to probably six from this - potentially eight - NIT will take first four out and second four out from NCAA at a minimum. That fills out half the field, leaving 16 slots. At that point, name recognition and ability to draw fans comes into play, which may give us an edge over some other schools ahead of us.

Close the season out today and turn the page. I wouldn't want to play another game if I am Hurley after today. Just hit reset and have some tough, honest conversations with some guys about next year and realistic expectations.

We don't belong in any tournament. The record doesn't show it but this team and especially some players improved this season.
