Pay for play tournament? Will this be a new trend? (I hope thisdoesn’t mean we play Texas 3 maybe 4 times next year)

Does anybody know anything more about this tournament than what’s in this article? Is each team given a million Bucks that it can spread around through its scholarship players ? Use it or lose it in one year? 67,000 per player on 15 woman roster?

Just noticed 3 conference involved. Two are under ESPN contract. One is under FOX

But it looks like TNT will own the broadcast rights.

I’m so confused.

Men's version debuted this year. Oregon defeated Alabama in the championship for $1.5m. Alabama got $1m for second. Schools can divide the money amongst players however they want, which seems like a great way to destroy a locker room.

Look, I am a UConn fan. I saw this announcement and I was wondering where we were.

Two SEC teams, an ACC team, and a big 10 team. Should be pretty rich already. I hope UConn is looking at things like this too. I think they need to really find some outside the box methods to grow NIL.

Unless it is diivided equally as we purportedly do with all COLLECTIVE money.

Their personal NIL is their own.

Tennessee, Notre Dame, U$C and UConn would generate eyeballs and visitors

Round robin play? Seven games?

Or make it a double elimination tourney like the CWS?
If this year’s men’s tourney of eight teams provides a model then there are two groups of four teams. Within each group the teams played two opponents (not round robin). A group ranking got determined by two game record and point differentials. Then the top team in each group played for the “championship”. The second place teams in each group played one another, etc. All participating teams played three games. The schools played Tue/Wed/Sat. The championship game teams earned a larger NIL pool.

Of course it may get done differently next year. The 2025 Men’s tourney has 15 schools committed. I presume the tourney will add more schools?

Surprised y'all remember what it tastes like.

While Blue Devils love the taste of chicken..... Out of fear of the BIrd Flu, we have been hesitant on feasting on it of late.;):p

Am I misunderstanding the article? Do we not actually have the NIL to be apart of this?

I was under the impression MBB couldn't participate in the men's version because we were already in Maui
