NIL First Major Sanction Issued by the NCAA - Miami

Well, looks like the NCAA is going to be selective in going after programs for NIL just like it was before NIL. There has to be a whole lot worse than this going on all over the place. Boo again to the NCAA. They let the genie out of the bottle with NIL, now to all of a sudden decide to enforce something just seems totally lame. If the powers that be in football really do break away from the NCAA eventually as has been speculated, and the whole organization collapses, they absolutely deserve it.

Got a concrete example?

I am shocked that the first is wbb. Not shocked it was Miami.

The NCAA did not let the NIL genie out of the bottle. The Supreme Court did. The NCAA would have been happy to keep the players down on the plantation or in the mill village or whatever you want to call it.

its especially bad in football and mens basketball where it has become open pay for play scheme and programs getting into bidding wars for recruits and transfers... Paying players has always happened especially in those sports but now its much more out in the open.

WBB obviously not near the same level but I imagine there is a lot of pressure and stipulation for many of these top recruits now. Heck, you see many of them signing up with NIL organizations before college and some are making it clear during the recruiting process that its a factor.

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to get punished I also think it's lame that they chose to punish WBB of all sports. Some of these crazy alleged football NIL deals should be first priority.

Stan VG has a point here. With all the craziness re CFB recruits lately, 6-7 figure NIL deals, NCAA goes after the easy pickings. Not surprising, as it never penalizes the massive cases of rule breaking. Interesting that this tweet was on my screen this am however when I clicked it, the account is gone.

Reminds me of the UNC cheating scandal where the women's program was punished over the men's program. It's ridiculous but it's nice to see Van Gundy pointing it out.

There is no way they punish any of the big football programs. The booster for Miami already said if they punished Miami for his football deals he would file a lawsuit.
The NCAA enforcement division needs to be closed down.
The FBI found all those schools paying out money, and every school involved has got off with no penalty.

There is a lot worse going on in football and men's basketball...this feels like an attempt to act like their doing something about it without actually doing anything about it...

As a South Carolina sports fan, I'm surprised that FSU hasn't been put under the microscope. They did some fishy stuff in the off-season, allegedly bribing a few of our players to jump into the portal for a big paycheck. And of course, there is the whole he said she said arguments between Alabama and Texas A&M.

Speaking of the FSU thing, I'lĺ never forgive Jaheim Bell for the "buy my t-shirts, GamecockNation" the same day he bails deal.
