Head coach Paul Pasqualoni was dismissed from the team a couple of games into the 2013 season taking a spot with the Chicago Bears as their defensive line coach, now with the Houston Texans. The dismissal paved the way for T.J. Weist to become interim head coach being promoted from offensive coordinator after Pasqualoni was fired. After the 2013 season was completed with Weist posting a 3-5 record Bob Diaco took over at the helm.

UConn has continued to win in the AAC through all the coaching changes but a spot among the uncertainty for a freshman quarterback going forward is a risky proposition. Will the offense executed by the new staff fit his abilities? Will Lagow be “their guy” or will he just be an arm on the practice field while the new staff recruits a signal caller that they wanted?

I don't think the author paid any attention to Uconn's W/L over the past few years... continued to win in the AAC?

The unfortunate truth is, it sounds like Lagow could have really contributed here (although that's as much an indictment of our QB situation as it is praise of Lagow). Oh well.

Wait he wasn't sick on signing day?
Whether sick or not on signing day, he did end up signing then our program went in limbo with all the coaching / football philosophy changes to go with it...

I still think this kid's gonna have some big moments with his 2 years of elgibility left when he signs with a school this Fall...Best of luck to him.. Good kid who wasn't afraid to make choices, even if they didn't work out... He's still grindin....

The Kid should have 3 years of eligibility remaining. He graduated High School in 2013. Left UConn that same year and transferred to Okla St and was forced to sit out (effectively Redshirting). His first year was 2014. This fall will be his second active season out of four.

Though technically, The Kid is a "former Husky," I have a hard time considering him to be one. All the drama from February - August 2013 aside, he never experienced a game day in National Flag Blue. He left before that honor.

As an aside, does anyone else find it a strange coincidence that Lagow's recruiting Coordinator left UConn for N.C. State and less than 18 months later, Bryant Shirreffs may very well find himself under center in East Hartford?

I don't buy his explanation of what happened one bit. He does seem to have inherited his self-promotion skills from his dad, however.

He has 2 to play 2 after this year. He redshirt ed his freshman year at OSU. He was not at Uconn when the semester opened.

He's a talented prospect but it was a bad call to leave. He should have had faith that Pasqualoni would get fired, and stuck it out.

As it is, few top level DI coaches will want to invest in a guy with only 2 years eligibility and a history of flaky decisions / high maintenance behavior. Annually only a few JUCO QBs get picked up. The level of schools that are recruiting him now is probably where he'll end up. With his talent, he should have been a DI QB. I wish I could have seen what TJ Weist could do with him.

I like his Dad and the decision to run from P was reasonable. Hopefully he lands somewhere soon so he can get a couple of seasons in. Time flies and all.

IIRC, Jamir Miller had to sit out his freshman year at UConn because he took part in UNC practices, but not classes. Similar situation. He had to enroll at UConn in order to partake in Fall camp.

Kid is either a liar or has a very selective memory. Also still sounds like he runs from competition.

He said someone told him OSU needed a QB, and he showed up there...but they didnt need a QB.

Who doesn't look at an online roster before enrolling in college ???

Agreed. That article is a puff piece, probably written by his mom or dad.
I think the young man is a runner not a passer.

smh... You's are killin me... wow..

I like the fact the kid opened his mouth to the public... Anybody can show braun on the football field but in today's world if you can step up for yourself in front of everybody, admit to mistakes and keep moving forward, it, to me, is more of a testament to setting yourself up for manhood... I commend the kid... and wish him nothing but the best...

Fact about our state of affairs currently (called UCONN Football), we're not very good, top to bottom... organizationally, on the field, you name it... maybe frustration is coming out on all sides on this thread because we saw some success in the past and want to see kids come in here, compete and help put us back on the map and keep us there... Maybe that's it.

Pretty long article for someone who has done nothing. He is good at one thing though, changing schools.

Looks like Lagow is getting heavily recruited by UMass, which would be a great pickup for them. Would be cool to play him in a couple years and to see what could have been.
