The undercurrent in Geno’s remarks is to urge the University of Minnesota to give Whelan the time she needs to turn the program around. In a conference that will typically be dominated by MD, Iowa, Michigan & IN, breaking into the upper echelon is a daunting challenge.

Yes, I always thought in the Olympics, the opposition had more trouble with her than with Bird. She was a very strong guard with a great handle and a fearless driver. Nice jumper too. The article says she has a top ten recruiting class coming in so hopefully she will get to the Big Dance soon. She will be a great coach sooner rather than later. in my opinion. As a player, she had a great understanding of the game.

Whalen would be a great model for Nika to evolve into. Tough as nails and would drive on anyone (Perhaps even in a backup role)
