NFL D-League

Don't have a link but heard about it on Sports radio this morning as I was driving in to work.

Apparently, the NFL has a whole developmental wing that is working on European games and the like, and they are preparing to form a D-League.

Isn't that what practice squads are for? Is there enough talent to warrant the operating costs of a D-League? Especially when the NCAA is providing it for free right now.

Or is this going to be an alternative to playing in college and players can go to it right out of high school?

An alternative to college and the CFL.
