We lose 3 players to graduation from our current roster of 11..really losing only one impact player
and gain Saniya and the possible walk-on, giving a roster of 10 including Banks...Did I get that right?

Not a whole lot of room for injuries or issues, especially in the back-court. But all real quality players.
Can one imagine Stewie as back-up 2?

Are we completely out of options for next season? JUCO, Europe, Asia?

Is it possible that Geno has a secret rabbit, he's about to pull out of his hat?

Or do you think he really likes the prospect of 8 quality players + Banks, when she makes it back + the walk-on?

Guards - Doty, Faris, Hartley, Jefferson, Banks
Forwards - KML, Tuck, Stewart
Centers - Dolson, Stokes, Buck

11 players.

2013-14 Roster.

Guards - Hartley, Jefferson, Banks, Chong
Forwards - KML, Tuck, Stewart
Centers - Dolson, Stokes

9 players.

Walkon is probable. Probably a guard.

10 players.

This roster can absorb the usual few games that players invariably miss. They are that talented that against most teams, it won't matter. I refuse to even speculate on another Banks type injury.

With the usual improvement that freshman have, I see an NC contender and probable favorite next year.

Seems highly doubtful. In 25+ years, there has been just 1 surprise/last minute recruit. I see no reason to expect another.

From conference play perspective, of all the years to have a short bench, next year is probably one of the best. Without offending the mojo goods, the new teams coming into the conference, on paper, won't match the competition that some of the departing teams provided, most especially notre dame. Not sure if the new teams have the athletes that Syracuse has, though remains to be seen if there is a team as exciting as 'Nova :rolleyes:

Rutgers and Louisville, being around one more year, will likely be the biggest challenges in conference. Even with those two still around I am not worried about conference play.

OOC is another story. Even minor ankle sprains that limit play time could be trouble with a short bench. I seem to recall Geno has said he would not go JUCOtransfers again, but maybe there is a chance he might reconsider? Are there any unsigned recruits he might consider for spring signing?

None of the new teams will make the NCAAs this year. Youre looking at teams, at best, that are as good as Marquette. Some are weaker than Cincinnati.

I think they will improve in time, but nowhere close now.

Thanks for the link, Biff. It is very likely that she will be on the roster, making it 10, only one less than last year.

They should be fine.

As long as there are no season ending injuries like Brianna Banks. UCONN'S margin for error is very small.

Perhaps you've forgotten Geno's smartassed claim a few months ago to the effect that people on the Internet (includes us, I suppose) are idiots, and that he had a couple of secret recruits we didn't know about.

Time to produce them, Geno.

I do not believe he said that. What was the exact quote?
And IIRC, what he did say was open to interpretation on whether he was joking or not.
 
I hope it's a PG with better decision making than we now have. Chong is a nice addition, but she's a 2. We are a PG away from a NC. Stewie, Dolson, KML,et.al will be formidible. Hartley is close and Jefferson is a year away.

I'm not going to bother to research it for you. I can read plain English, and my memory in this matter is pretty clear.

According to you, apparently, his gratuitous insults are only a joke, whereas some unidentified offending party is taken seriously by Geno. That doesn't compute, as they used to say.

I don't know which quotes you're referring to, and if you're not willing to bring them to the table, then I guess there's nothing to discuss.
 
Another Sveta would be nice :) would love a few more players just in case.
