Christyn now has 982 points for her career. She will be joining the long list of 1,000 points scorers in the next game or so. Next will be Oliva who currently has 564. If she continues her 17.3 scoring average throughout the rest of the season, she will also reach 1,000 points this year. Looking at who is also on this team and is coming in next years class, this list will continue to grow at a very quick rate. Christyn also has 97 3 point baskets so she will also be joining the 100 3 point baskets club shortly. Ania is next with 65.

Bueckers would probably be the next to do it. Makurat had a 252 point lead coming into the year, but Bueckers is outscoring her by roughly 10pts/game. If that continues Bueckers will pass Makurat around the 26th game this year.

Curious. So how does Evina get handled in this situation? Do her TN points carry over or does she start from scratch?

When UNC transfer Azura Stevens scored her 1000th career point, while at UConn, Geno presented her with a basketball to honor her achievement during the next home game. So I would expect Evina to receive the same honor at UConn.

This goes to show how big of an accomplishment the twin duo of Pheesa and Lou achieved by scoring 2401 and 2342 points respectively in their careers at the same time. Lou probably would have been even higher on the scoring list if she had not injured her back her senior year, and yet some people think she is more "flash bang" :)

UCONN'S official stats only cover points scored in a UCONN uniform. If you check Steven's stats they only list her UCONN points.

If she hadn't had numerous injuries and illnesses, some that she played through. How about Lou throwing up during the Maryland game and still playing hard. If
Yes, Pheesa only passed her in scoring because of injuries.

Geno and his staff acknowledged Steven's 1000 points and presented her with a game ball. But the UCONN stats only recognize her UCONN accomplishments.

Ok to quickly reset this for everyone (ok, mostly for myself and the nitpicking was a tad excessive):
Christyn Williams is next at 982
Evina Westbrook at 769 (both UConn-30 and Tennessee-739 stats)
Olivia Nelson-Ododa 564
Anna Makurat 282
Aubrey Griffin 233
Paige Bueckers 72
Aaliyah Edwards 40

Ok, does that help everyone now?

On this topic, I thought I'd include a photo of my "neighbor." :)

Who knows, could be the next 2000 or 3000 ;)
When I first saw Azzi as a 9th grader (Sue Semrau from Florida State was in the audience), I immediately thought of Maya's career record: "3,036."

A Boneyarder recently asked me what I thought of the most recent time I saw Azzi (as a junior). My reply, half jokingly: "4,000." :)

Azzi is amazing. I'm not sure though she'll be able to catch Maya. Not because she lacks the talent but because she'll have really good talent around her.

Maya only really had Renee and Tina around her for stretches over her 4 years. Azzi is going to be surrounded by talent a couple rows deep all 4 years.

First, I wouldn't describe Tina and Renee as "only." And there was other talent in addition to Tina and Renee, such as Tiffany Hayes (1801 points) and Kalana Greene (1444).

When I first saw Azzi, it was almost 3 years ago. We had barely seen Megan play at UConn, hadn't gotten Liv or Christyn on campus, and hadn't yet received commitments from Aubrey, Anna, Paige, Evina, Nika, Aaliyah, Piath, Mir, Autumn, Saylor, Caroline, Amari, or Ice. I had no idea how deep the team would be if/when Azzi arrived. Given the balance, I don't think 3,036 is likely. However, if the scoring mark doesn't fall, the shooting percentage marks are in serious jeopardy. I still think 55/45/95 is realistic for her, at least for a season. Azzi is a phenomenal shot maker. As good as there is.

Point taken. Still they overlapped in a staggered way and Greene did have an injury. I still stand by my point that Azzi is going to potentially have 4 really good players like them times 2 or maybe 3 for the time she is at UConn.
