I think we all agree Tristen played really well last night without shooting well. What impressed me the most was his ability to draw fouls. He was fouled 13 times last night, that’s terrific. There are college games in which teams don’t commit 13 fouls. Does anyone know if college teams keep this stat? Also, this tells me that if we are down 1 or 2 at the end of a game the ball is in his hands.
 
Really like how he's transitioned to pg. It was my understanding he was not a true pg at ECU. He looks very comfortable thus far
 
His ability to draw fouls is something we have craved for years. Our guys like Adams and Bouk were genius at avoiding contact. Cole was a little better. But Newton is another level.
 
I had no problem hearing the hard 't' in his last name.

You're right on Adams, but Bouk drew a ton of fouls. He led the conference in fouls drawn his soph year.

He was not (and will not be) a "traditional" PG, but he was definitely a PG at ECU. What we saw against Buffalo is pretty similar to the style he played at ECU. Looking to get out in transition and score, but also facilitating (second in the AAC in APG last year and third in PPG).
