Newton to the Wolves

That’s nice to hear. Do any of the NBA folks here want to help us with how this fits for him? Oh wait, silly question. Just bring it on!

Conley's cooked, Dillingham is undersized and nowhere near ready, and none of the other guys on or near the roster are point guards. Except Daishen Nix, who they released to make room for Tristen.

There's a path to playing time here if he can perform.

Dillingham also hurt.

Plus with DiVincenzo struggling off the bench as a combo guard, Newton can certainly get some PT,

I'm also glad to see this move. He definitely sees himself as a person who can play in the NBA level and make an impact if given a shot. As others have mentioned Timberwolves need a PG and especially one that shoot.

Awesome for Newt! He has the skills to be a successful point guard in the league..size, physical finisher around the rim, good jump shot, improved his ball handling last year, ran a movement style NBA offense in college. Potential steal for the Wolves!

Sooooo happy for Tristen! As others in this thread have expressed, I belive this is a better opportunity for him to get NBA playing time.

This is why I am so high on Tristen in the NBA. His G-League stats mirrored his college stats. I believed it will be similar if given consistent minutes in the NBA. He has a very productive style of play and has historically played his best against the better teams.
