Through a long time friend (and a very long story) I have the 1995 autographed basketball that was presented to the then governor Roland at the championship parade.

I have a couple of other team signed basketballs from other years but it occurred to me that this might be something special to UConn. Maybe not.

Anyone have any suggestions who I should contact to see if UConn has any interest?

Not sure why you would think UConn has an interest in a signed basketball although I would guess there are fans that would have an interest. Can you provide the provenance?

It would depend - a school wouldn't pay to get a signed basketball back (in all likely-hood), however that doesn't mean they might not be interested. If nothing else, they might want to use it for a fundraiser. I have a signed basketball that was probably presented to Coach Stringer by the team that signed it (i.e. everyone but her from that team has signed it) that I obtained when it was auctioned off for charity many years later.

lol - I wasn't interested in selling it to them. To me anyway, its a special ball from a very special season. If the school would like it to keep I would donate it. On the other hand, the thought of them using it as a fundraiser leaves me a little flat :)

As to the provenance, its the real deal & can be easily traced back.

Which team?

Since the ball was presented to the Governor it was the property of the state. And since UConn is a part of the state government it would appear that the ball already belongs to them. How did the ball get into private hands to begin with?

Which team?
The 2000 Final Four team from Rutgers. Auctioned off for a charity event honoring CVS and raising funds for a charity that works with special needs children and adults such as Vivian's daughter.

I would be disappointed if a school auctioned off such items as fundraisers for themselves - although I have no trouble with a fan donating such an item when a fan club is raising money for the school. OTH, if a school wants to donate a "package" for auction to support a charity, that's ok by me. This also could have been donated by the WBB office, there were several "Rutgers" packages for auction.

You have a point. I was a union steward while employed by the state government and after seeing other employees get terminated for much less I still get upset when I read that there is a separate set of rules for some employees.
