New WNBA uni’s....with no team name ?!

I’ve seen several teams’ new jerseys—including the Fever , Sky, and one other—and they only have the team logo on the center of the chest , not the name of the team itself, in letters or a lettered logo. Of course, the sponsor logos (using letters) are featured prominently !

Obviously the W is free to do whatever it can to make a marketing buck for its teams and for the league, but I think it crosses a line when you can’t even have the team’s own name on the front of their jerseys, at the expense of AT&T and Salesforce.com being there instead.

Good to at least see logos back on the uniforms. For a while some of the uniforms only had sponsorships with a small patch of the logo near the clavicle. Good to see the “Aces” name still on their unis but that just makes me think they’re having a problem securing a second sponsor.

Actually they are owned by MGM and they get their money from the advertising in the Mandalay Bay Events center and other parts of the casino.

The English Premier League , perhaps the most famous richest league in the world, has this for Chelsea , one of its most prominent teams.

Yokohama Tyres is the sponsor. That little tiny patch is the team logo.

The Sky didn't even have a small patch last year. That space near the clavicle was another logo.

So actually having the logo on the new uniforms is a step up. But it didn't bother me that the team logo/name wasn't on the uniforms in the first place.

But that Yokohama logo is seen by millions of eyes, as opposed to just a few thousand in the WNBA - and I’m sure Yokohama pays accordingly.
