It's coming along nicely. It looks to be a very attractive facility.

It does look nice now, but I’m afraid it’ll look dated in a few years; especially the Shiplap

Meh, I'm not so sure. I will say I don't get why there's all the love for shiplap. It's exterior siding. The faux shiplap that you see with the gap in between it seems like it would be a PITA to clean. I blame that Waco renovation show.

The side that fronts Hillside is almost completely glass. So from the street it should look pretty nice. It is heck of a lot better than we had back in the 70s.

Was just on campus last week. It’s a very impressive looking building. At least from the outside. I think the days of kids preferring the Eastbrook Mall Planet Fitness are numbered.

I worked at the last gym all 4 years I was on campus. Wish I was still there now

Wow. I remember the heavy bag being in the loft of the field house and accessing the racquet courts having to walk down a well of dark stairs.

But, but, but UConn is broke right? At least that's what I keep reading on the BY.

Seriously, this looks great and was long overdue.

Aren’t they charging student fees $500 per year to pay for it?

Are they? I hadn't heard that. Wow so UConn can build a $100M Student rec facility and it is costing them nothing? Impressive.

Yes, the students are paying for it.

Or the students' parents (like me) are paying for it! My daughter, who is a sophomore, got a job at the Rec Center. I'm going to push to get her first $500 in wages!

She did send me a couple videos of the inside, and the place is absolutely beautiful.

“Student Recreation Center”

And, students inexplicably electing not to use the appropriately named rec center can look themselves in the mirror should they choose to whine over the reasonable financing contribution. Parents’ generous help included. No Frosh 40s’ excuses!
