With CT's governor's race in the rear view mirror, ideally the new guy's announced shortly and is an extremely well connected, immensely successful fundraiser with B1G-time connections and a polar opposite gridiron and hoops lover versus his predecessor's indifference. Oh, and he also brings quality experience and good success leading a well respected, research academic institution.

I mean, did you have someone in mind?

2 months later ...

After walking in the door not so clued in on football's importance and becoming more engaged over time out of need, UConn's now waiting to name a new president. Sometime after the new sheriff's start post-May graduation, maybe we'll all learn the name of the new DC.

I would imagine leaks or actual announcement incoming... too many people now to glkeep their mouths closed:

CT business leaders join Lamont to interview UConn president candidate

>>Gov. Ned Lamont convened Monday what could be the last step before trustees formally select the next president of the University of Connecticut: An opportunity for the leading candidate to talk privately with Lamont and a half-dozen business leaders about the governor’s desire for UConn to play a greater role helping to drive economic growth.

The meeting at the Executive Residence was the governor’s second with the candidate, who has not been publicly identified by the governor’s office or a university search committee.<<

Well, it appears the decision's been narrowed down to the next UConn President will be a "man".

"Lamont met with two finalists the weekend of Jan. 12, just days after his inauguration, according to his staff. With the passage of two weeks without trustees voting on a choice, it’s become clear that Lamont wanted further vetting of (the) man the trustees appear ready to hire."

And, neither unusually nor unexpectedly, current UConn Provost Craig Kennedy resigned in advance of the man ushering in his own candidate as Provost. Until the man and UConn hire a new Provost, SBA Dean John Elliott will step in as Interim Provost.

This [change] will allow the next president to select a provost based on their own academic priorities, vision for the institution, and their specific preferences regarding the individual who fills this role,” Kennedy wrote.

"Kennedy came to the University for the position starting in April 2018. He will serve as provost until March 1, at which time Elliott will become interim provost."

I would prefer an operations side person as president, but admittedly am not super familiar with the general process.

Without knowing jack shiite about Katsouleas beyond publicly reported info nor defending him, management oversight over 11 Wahoo "... schools, a library, art museums, public service activities, university centers and foreign study programs ..." and prior experience running Puke's Engineering School may have provided some ops capabilities. Whether such background with 2 extremely well-endowed universities translates to enhancing operational efficiencies, required legislative sukcing up, improved corporate relationships, research capabilties, fundraising, etc, facilitating rebuilding athletic department success, minimally maintaining current academic reputation, etc. ...

Looks like a cross between Don Shula and Michael Dukakis.

Which might not be a bad combo...

LOL - I mean come to that conclusion. It is pretty accurate - just an odd thing to think about :)

I just thought, "That guy looks familiar." Still feel I'm missing a well-known guy who's even more a doppelganger.
