The thing that surprises me is so many posters are looking right past Oregon State, and not giving them any credit or respect. Its assumed that Baylor will get by Oregon State. We've already seen two #1 seeds lose this weekend. What's to say Oregon doesn't make it 3? If Syracuse and Washington can beat the hangman, why can't Oregon State? No body saw South Carolina or Notre Dame not coming out of their regionals.

A UConn/Baylor match up will no doubt be the biggest and most anticipated game of the final four weekend, if both get their tickets punched. Many think the championship game will be the UConn/Baylor semi final game on Sunday April 3. The actual championship game will be an afterthought, as the winner of semi-final game will be expected/projected to win the championship game. This final four week will have a bizarre awareness about the grounds and arena, in that Notre Dame and its fans will not be there. Like UConn, they've become a staple at the final 4 the last few years.

Am I the only one that didn't assume Baylor would make the final four? Did I pack away my turban and cape too soon? Congrats to the Oregon State Beavers for doing what few people thought they could do. If someone had told you that only ONE # 1 seed would make it to Indianapolis after the brackets were announced, would you have believed them?
I wouldn't have. I did not see any way that any of them would not make it to Indy. I honestly thought they would have to knock each other off. Obviously I was wrong.

Three #1 seeds going down. The most surprising one to me was Notre Dame bowing out. I would have bet the farm that they would make it to Indy. Like UConn, they were running rough shod over the field. Most of the time, they appeared invincible, but hen so did Goliath. Never say never.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "NO"... I do not think Baylor has a chance to beat Uconn...

Rocky - I'm no more of a fan of her "CUPCAKE" pre-conference than you are. I criticized her harshly in a post here during the Christmas break. EastTexasTrash shared an observation with us that made me pause for a moment, and consider her motives for that weak schedule. East-Texas noted that Mulkey had a young team, and used the "soft" pre-conference schedule to slowly bring her team along. Originally, none of Baylor's games before the Christmas break were on the road. Two off-site tournaments were added later.

I could understand that philosophy from a coach's point of view. Mulkey had a vision of where she knew her team needed to be by the end of February, and charted a slow and steady course to get them there. Outside criticism be damned. I can't knock any coach for doing that. Its their job to do everything possible to have their tea "tournament ready" come March.

Yes, it would be nice to see her team play some top ranked teams on the road in November and December, but that's not her game plan. I'm not a Baylor fan, thus the fortunes of their program are of no concern to me. I'm a UConn fan. I root for our girls. I could go to my grave and not see them lose another game, and I'd be perfectly OK with that.

Mulkey gets the blame or credit for her team's success or failure, thus SHE gets to make the call. Its been reported that She has agreed to a home & home with UConn over the next two years. Some folks thought it was more than a coincidence that she waited until the BIG 3 graduated to pull the trigger on that deal.

Three #1 seeds landed hard last week when they unexpectedly fell out of the tournament. Their respective "mojo's" locked up on them, right when they needed them most.

All of them had travel plans for Indy this week. Their resolve and determination not to repeat this season's outcome should be extremely intense. They've ALL got work to do. ALL four of this year's #1 seeds have something to prove next season, which for me, can't begin soon enough.
