Men New Proposed Golf Practice Facility

"Having a dedicated indoor and outdoor practice facility would centralize activities and reduce travel time for student-athletes, while increasing levels of competition and recruitment."

It also frees up valuable space in Gampel.

Make you shake your head that the B1G chose that dumpster fire in Piscataway over us, then immediately abandoned all the so-called pre-requisites that supposedly kept us out of consideration. For what?

Millions more in cable revenue.

I believe several naming opportunities have been taken.

Are the $50 items on page 2? Maybe I can buy a 40lb bag of sand.

If it’s not blue spotted salamanders it’s the dang dwarf conifers😆

Interesting read: A CT university has a plan for an athletic training center. It could lead to trouble for neighbors.

-> Now, the Harpers and their neighbors fear their problems with water could rise up again if the University of Connecticut clears nearly a third of 22 acres of woodlands the university owns at the crest of East Road to build a proposed training center for its 9-member golf team. <-

-> The dispute is a textbook example of a neighborhood pushing back against development. But it also has two big twists: the town has no regulatory control over the property because a state university owns it, and some of the land contains the work of a famous UConn horticulturalist who pioneered the cultivation of dwarf pines. The university would need state approvals for the project. <-

I think we should be sensitive to the Mansfield residents and not build the golf facility there. However, that tract of land would be a perfect location to put a new football stadium.

Yeah,

Like you have any desire to be sensitive to the Mansfield residents.

Hey, I'm a sensitive guy! They don't want a golf simulator in their neighborhood, we can find other spots for that. Of course, I suppose they might also complain about the stadium, but at that point they're really just being whiners, complaining about every little thing.

Honestly, that site is even better than my previously preferred choice on the separatist tract. I wasn't aware the university owned it.

May have shared this before. I had seen a master plan/model back in the 70s with most of campus expansion heading south on 195.

If you did, I may have missed it, but I agree it makes perfect sense. 195 is a "major/ish" road.

Over the years I have read quite a few master plans for the university. They seem to make a lot of sense at least until they are ignored whenever a new project is started. Every five years, a new one crops up.
