The new Pac-12 will boom, not bust – The Daily Barometer The new Pac-12 will boom, not bust

Waiting for tip off I got to thinking about next year here in Vegas which in addition to the Mountain West and WCC will feature the tournament for the new pac-12.

Well my wife discourages thinking sometimes I do go off the reservation and the new pac-12 will have 9 teams evidently competing in women's basketball. Nine? I certainly hope I don't detect the hands of Larry Scott involved in this new pac-12.

The article about is pretty interesting any article makes the following prediction for next year... Talk either about confidence or hubris

  1. Gonzaga
  2. Oregon State
  3. San Diego State
  4. Colorado State
  5. Boise State
  6. Washington State
  7. Fresno State
  8. Texas State
  9. Utah State
Rather than the upcoming year what about this year If the pac existed his year who would be dancing?

Well some assumptions are necessary.

I do Wonder too would this be a pathetic conference with teams having Lane out of conference schedules?

First I would assume that the championship game would be between Gonzaga and CSU and both would be dancing.

From there it gets kind of dicey huh?

Was San Diego dance with an early exit from their conference tournament with their records? Would the pac-12 cache get them in?

How about the Beavers would they get in based upon their diminutive coach?

I am excited to see what the new Pac 12 shapes up to be. Gonzaga is always competitive and well coached. The same with Oregon State. Fresno State could make things interesting in Coach McCarthy's 2nd year. I am excited to see what the new Pac 12 brings us. Are there plans to add more teams or they holding for now with nine?

I think they ran out of decent options. They pursued some other schools that passed on the opportunity. UNLV for sure. I think Memphis and maybe somebody else from nearby there. Adding Texas St. kinda shows you how desperate they got for members. Got their foot in the door in an important state, but seems very much like a "who cares" kind of school.

Thanks for the information. I hope the new PAC 12 does well over time.
