I have always had an affinity for the UCONN Husky basketball program but never necessarily pledged my fandom. Always enjoyed the vibes around the program and the moxy so many players had from Khalid El-Amin to Emeka, Charlie, Kemba, Bouknight and Tristen. But Dan Hurleyj ust plays the "beautiful game". Man, to maximize THIS team the way he did was absolutely incredible. A coach who actually runs offense and doesn't just succumb to the 1v1 ISO/High Ball screen low basketball IQ fad is a man after my own heart.
I think what ultimately did UCONN in this year was not having depth at the C position and not really having that elite tier of PG. I love Solo/Silas but I am just not sure I see them as PG's. What made those title teams so good was the depth at C and the fact Newton could run this complex of an offense, yet also had the skill to create when it broke down.
Hopefully there are some irons cooking in the portal to address needs. Go Huskies!
