Even though the decision is now old news, this is a great interview on Hurleys thought process in making the decision.
Also interviewed is Andrea, who wanted him to stay, Andrew who gave his input, Alex who was a nervous wreck because he stayed in school for Hurley and the team, Luke who talks about it being a tough decision and them being at the Billy Joel concert and Kimani who always thought that Dan was going to stay.
I also liked when Alex talked about the coach coming into the room the morning the news broke that Dan was interviewing for the job and Hurley, in his chess to checkers kind of way, threw the topic back at the players and asked them why he should stay at UConn and coach and what were they willing to do this year to convince him to stay.
Even though this has been said many times, UConn Nation is lucky to have the Hurley’s and the coaches leading the program.

Made the right decision for the right reasons. But he had to go through the LA process to reconnect with the important stuff that gets him (and his family) up in the morning. All good- UConn wins.

Of course I am thrilled that the Hurley’s made this decision for themselves, their staff and the university but I don’t want this to be drama with the NBA every year. He has the new contract, is making plenty of dough and while he is under no obligation to give a guarantee or assurance saying he wants to stay put for a few years it would be appreciated by the fans and university to shut down what’s likely to happen every spring. If possible.

I imagine that during most offseasons the pundits will speculate on which NBA franchises will take a run at Dan Hurley. I also believe that there may be a handful of occasions where he will actually interview.

Part of the territory that we are in is that our men's basketball head coach will be highly sought after for quite some time. We're going to need to learn how to deal with it.

His meeting with Calhoun soon after he arrived at Storrs is legendary.

The big news in this interview is he no longer seems to have the desire to coach in the NBA.
Stay at UConn Danny!!!

In the interview he seems to imply that the NBA has been back burnered a bit now. He's not ruling it out, but he's aware he'd have less competitive advantage and that he'd have a less meaningful connection to the players.

the most interesting part of this interview to me is the big argument Dan had with Luke concerning recruiting. Luke is obviously going to be a HC one day, hopefully here.

As long as we can compete in the CBB landscape I don't think he's going anywhere
