New Head Coach Criteria/Wishes

Most state jobs require that the candidate take an examination. Those who pass the test go on a hiring list. The state agency will interview candidates from the list. When an examination is required, the Commissioner of Administrative Services has the authority for the hiring process (other than choosing the person). For some jobs, the taking of an examination is not required. That would be the case for hiring a coach. In this case, the hiring authority of the Commissioner of Administrative Services is delegated to the department head, subject to a delegation plan provided by the department head. One of the requirements of the delegation plan is that the job be posted for seven days.

Note: I am not 100% positive that this statute applies, so perhaps I should not have posted it, but I was replying to the person who mentioned the job posting time.
I had asked this on the other board, but is this just a Connecticut thing? I don’t hear about this waiting time with other state schools. For example, You read that Florida is interviewing Sumral for their job. The next day he is hired. No wait time.

Here’s mine:

1. Must be a head coach or was one at a high level.

2. Will bring coaches and talent with him. The great ones always do.

3. Must be able to thrive and win in the NIL/Rev Share environment and not cry about its complexity and ambiguity.

Straightforward enough?
Ricky Rahne, Old Dominion his offense is explosive and he has to be interested. He won (this season) with little to none resources that they gave him at Old Dominion. No one is mentioning him but this is an interesting one. Key factor would be bringing some of those guys from Old Dominion

What about the elder Jim Mora? He doesn't seem to be coaching anywhere these days.
Mora, Sr.?, Mora, Sr.? Are you kidding me?
Glastonbury and West Hartford are nice towns for the area of CT that they’re in. But they don’t hold a candle to Fairfield County or other nice places around the country.

People aren’t flocking to the Hartford area because the restaurants are nice. The restaurants aren’t even that great. One thing I do miss about living in Fairfield tho was their marina slips were reasonably priced for Fairfield residents. And public transportation via train was miles better, that’s just natural infrastructure tho.

There are no perks for living in northern/central CT.
With exception of the super wealthy that actually have sizable estates tucked away from the rabble, generally speaking, the Fairfield County most know is an utter clusterf with a crappy standard of actual living marked by road congestion, high density building, and hyper expensive housing costs. What’s funny is the same house on 10 acres in Greenwich for $15M-$25M is $2M in Farmington, Simsbury, etc.. and what they are buying is the rural tranquility and quiet that they otherwise snub their noses at. The paradox never ceases to amuse me. It’s all about getting to the City taking a 50 minute train ride.

Wrong. It all depends on what you like. I like having a large yard, less traffic, roads where you can cycle for miles without having to stop for lights every few hundred feet. Plus we can get to basketball games at the HCC in minutes. West Hartford is nice if you want a postage stamp yard. Other surrounding towns give you more acreage and privacy for a lot less than in Fairfield County. If it's good enough for Hurley...
The size of the house and yard needs change as you get older. I used to think bigger was better. But now I am widowed and the kids are all grown and married. I want something smaller than my 4 bedroom house. I keep thinking about it but procrastinate. I'll buy smaller next year. Haha

My issue with Sammis is that the majority of his plays called were focused on a handful of guys. Many on the team were frustrated (i.e. Rosa)

It could easily be ANY of the aforementioned HCs or even one not mentioned will be successful at UConn as long as we have the funds to hire a VERY solid support staff.

That's a plus for him. Use the guys that give the best chance of winning. Popularity or homerism should have nothing to do with it.

As someone who has spent nearly all of my 65 years living in lower Fairfield county I strongly disagree but do allow others whatever preferences they choose.

The congestion is an issue, but it isn't any worse than commuting into Hartford from any of it's suburbs (I did that for a couple years) and unless you prefer living in the sticks (which you can't really do in any reasonably sized town/city anywhere in Connecticut), there really are few advantages to living in other parts of the state.

I know it isn't for everyone but I also know that I am not alone in preferring living where I do to any other possibility.
