New Head Coach Criteria/Wishes

Some of the names mentioned in this podcast with a lot of different experience levels:
External-Tony Reno, Jerry Mack, Willie Simmons, Matt Patricia, Kevin Cahill, Terry Smith
Internal-Gordon Sammis, Kashif Moore

I have lived all over as well. Sorry to say Glastonbury would not make my list. West Hartford is fine if you are raising a family. I think the hard selling point is football is the 3rd wheel at UConn. Men’s and Women’s basketball take center stage. That can be an issue for most football coaches who have big egos.
West Hartford is nice if you want your house 5 feet away from your neighbors.

OMG love Kashif as a player and receiver coach but how could you even think he is ready to run this program. I have never met Sammie in person but I like the continuity idea. I just fear the words about developing a new culture.

If I was coaching a p4, I'd be hiding recruits at g5s to snatch up when they're juniors.
If I was a low G5 (think the MAC or some of the lower CUSA schools where you could win a lot of games by out-talenting your oppositioni), I would probably be cultivating those relationships to get me access to better talent than I'd normally have and who knows... maybe I can convince a few of them, maybe they end up in a relationship or something, to stick around longer.

A farm/feeder deal...

It would be great to see Kash Moore be a head football coach some day. He was by all reports a fine young man when he was here, and his father was a good member of the Boneyard. The thought that he’s ready to be a head football coach at a FBS level school now in his career is absurd.

Nobody eats there any more. It’s too crowded.

Glastonbury and West Hartford are nice towns for the area of CT that they’re in. But they don’t hold a candle to Fairfield County or other nice places around the country.

People aren’t flocking to the Hartford area because the restaurants are nice. The restaurants aren’t even that great. One thing I do miss about living in Fairfield tho was their marina slips were reasonably priced for Fairfield residents. And public transportation via train was miles better, that’s just natural infrastructure tho.

There are no perks for living in northern/central CT.

As if P4s aren’t actively scouting players at G5s and minimally reaching out to their parents/ agents. With large to massive budgets and increased TV broadcasts of many G4 games, e.g., ESPN+, little to no hiding of G4 players exists.

fair dinkum; i suppose stowing or stashing would've been better words than hiding. take a recruit that you cant find room for and tell him to go to xu, learn the system and hit the weights and we'll look you up as a jr.

Almost what coaches used to do with certain prep schools. Milford Academy was one of the places guys would get sent. In basketball it was/might still be Putnam Science. Milford was the original football team with a school attached I always thought.

Wrong. It all depends on what you like. I like having a large yard, less traffic, roads where you can cycle for miles without having to stop for lights every few hundred feet. Plus we can get to basketball games at the HCC in minutes. West Hartford is nice if you want a postage stamp yard. Other surrounding towns give you more acreage and privacy for a lot less than in Fairfield County. If it's good enough for Hurley...
