Isn't that the definition of lack of institutional control?
Anyway, whenever there is a coach available that went 14-31 in his last 4 seasons you have to get him
Nice one YogiNobody eats there any more. It’s too crowded.
I have lived all over as well. Sorry to say Glastonbury would not make my list. West Hartford is fine if you are raising a family. I think the hard selling point is football is the 3rd wheel at UConn. Men’s and Women’s basketball take center stage. That can be an issue for most football coaches who have big egos.

Glastonbury and West Hartford are nice towns for the area of CT that they’re in. But they don’t hold a candle to Fairfield County or other nice places around the country.West Hartford is nice if you want your house 5 feet away from your neighbors.
As if P4s aren’t actively scouting players at G5s and minimally reaching out to their parents/ agents. With large to massive budgets and increased TV broadcasts of many G4 games, e.g., ESPN+, little to no hiding of G4 players exists. If I was coaching a p4, I'd be hiding recruits at g5s to snatch up when they're juniors.
fair dinkum; i suppose stowing or stashing would've been better words than hiding. take a recruit that you cant find room for and tell him to go to xu, learn the system and hit the weights and we'll look you up as a jr.As if P4s aren’t actively scouting players at G5s and minimally reaching out to their parents/ agents. Almost what coaches used to do with certain prep schools. Milford Academy was one of the places guys would get sent. In basketball it was/might still be Putnam Science. Milford was the original football team with a school attached I always thought.fair dinkum; i suppose stowing or stashing would've been better words than hiding. take a recruit that you cant find room for and tell him to go to xu, learn the system and hit the weights and we'll look you up as a jr.
Wrong. It all depends on what you like. I like having a large yard, less traffic, roads where you can cycle for miles without having to stop for lights every few hundred feet. Plus we can get to basketball games at the HCC in minutes. West Hartford is nice if you want a postage stamp yard. Other surrounding towns give you more acreage and privacy for a lot less than in Fairfield County. If it's good enough for Hurley...Glastonbury and West Hartford are nice towns for the area of CT that they’re in. But they don’t hold a candle to Fairfield County or other nice places around the country.
People aren’t flocking to the Hartford area because the restaurants are nice. The restaurants aren’t even that great. One thing I do miss about living in Fairfield tho was their marina slips were reasonably priced for Fairfield residents. And public transportation via train was miles better, that’s just natural infrastructure tho.
There are no perks for living in northern/central CT.

It was a bunch of buildings I frequently drove by on the way to Gulf Beach...now it's some school of sorts in upstate New York that charges $22,900/year. They list Jaavon Brown (2024 UConn OL) on their former roster. There are prep schools. And then there is whatever Milford “Academy” was.
FWIW the QB who followed Fagnano at Maine, Derek Robertson, was on pace to win the Walter Payton award as a transfer at Monmouth this year until he got hurt. The guy we have at QB now -- you don't want that guy.Yes I agree we need a coach that can recruit on the East Coast. We also need a coach that can attract QBs to UConn and be able to recruit top HS qbs that can compete from day 1. To be a competitive school we can’t just get portal guys from Maine. Yes I love Fagnano but we need to be able to get this caliber year in and year out.
I think it has to be posted for a week.Has the coaching position been posted yet? Does the posting have to be posted for 5 business days before they can hire anyone?
Have you been to places like Iowa, Oklahoma St, Miss State, South Carolina, Happy Valley, Syracuse, and many more? Glastonbury is fine compared to some of those locations. I have been all over the country, and there are worse places to live than around Storrs. Glastonbury, West Hartford, Simsbury, Avon, and other areas are miles better than many places I could mention. If you’re hanging your hat on Glastonbury CT compared to other places around the country then I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
need a translation. delegation is repeated several timesI think it has to be posted for a week.
Sec. 5-227b. Waiver of examinations. Delegation of authority to recruit. Audit of recruitments. (a) Examinations for positions may be waived by the Commissioner of Administrative Services under any of the following conditions: (1) Where the possession of a professional license or degree or satisfactory completion of an accreditation, certificate or licensure program is a mandatory requirement for appointment or promotion to a position in state service; (2) where the appointment or promotion to a job classification that is utilized by a single state agency is limited in number and has few vacancies in the professional or managerial series; (3) when the qualifications for a position within the managerial class are so specialized or unique that an examination for a general job classification would not result in a list of candidates possessing such qualifications and would not be cost effective; or (4) when the number of applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for admission to an announced promotional examination is five or less.
(b) If the commissioner has granted a waiver of examination in accordance with subsection (a) of this section, the commissioner may delegate to a department head the authority to recruit for such position pursuant to a delegation plan, except no delegation plan shall be required for such delegation in the case of a waiver of examination granted pursuant to subdivision (1) of subsection (a) of this section. For waivers of examination granted pursuant to subdivisions (2) to (4), inclusive, of subsection (a) of this section, the department head shall submit a delegation plan to the commissioner, and the commissioner may grant a full or partial delegation to the department head. The department head shall obtain the commissioner's approval of the delegation plan prior to undertaking any recruitment efforts. Any such delegation plan shall (1) include standards for the posting of positions with a minimum time period of not less than one week; (2) specify the manner in which such notice shall be posted; and (3) specify the procedures for accepting and rejecting applicants based upon the minimum required qualifications. Where the department head has identified a candidate suitable for appointment and prior to making a formal or informal offer of employment, such department head shall submit the application, any supporting documentation for such candidate and the applications of such additional candidates such department head deems eligible for appointment to the commissioner for certification that such preferred candidate has met the minimum qualifications of experience and training as set forth in the job specification. Once written certification is granted, the department head may make an offer of employment to the candidate certified by the commissioner.
(c) Any recruitments performed by a department head pursuant to this section may be subject to post audit by the commissioner.
And we have better weather 😂Tim Polasek is a winner and and OC by trade and is making less than 400k per year. The offense under him at NDSU has been practically unstoppable and a huge reason they won like like all but 2 national titles in the last decade (he was OC there for a while too).
Most state jobs require that the candidate take an examination. Those who pass the test go on a hiring list. The state agency will interview candidates from the list. When an examination is required, the Commissioner of Administrative Services has the authority for the hiring process (other than choosing the person). For some jobs, the taking of an examination is not required. That would be the case for hiring a coach. In this case, the hiring authority of the Commissioner of Administrative Services is delegated to the department head, subject to a delegation plan provided by the department head. One of the requirements of the delegation plan is that the job be posted for seven days.need a translation. delegation is repeated several times
I had asked this on the other board, but is this just a Connecticut thing? I don’t hear about this waiting time with other state schools. For example, You read that Florida is interviewing Sumral for their job. The next day he is hired. No wait time. Most state jobs require that the candidate take an examination. Note: I am not 100% positive that this statute applies, so perhaps I should not have posted it, but I was replying to the person who mentioned the job posting time.
Ricky Rahne, Old Dominion his offense is explosive and he has to be interested. He won (this season) with little to none resources that they gave him at Old Dominion. No one is mentioning him but this is an interesting one. Key factor would be bringing some of those guys from Old DominionHere’s mine:
1. Must be a head coach or was one at a high level.
2. Will bring coaches and talent with him. The great ones always do.
3. Must be able to thrive and win in the NIL/Rev Share environment and not cry about its complexity and ambiguity.
Straightforward enough?
Mora, Sr.?, Mora, Sr.? Are you kidding me?What about the elder Jim Mora? He doesn't seem to be coaching anywhere these days.
With exception of the super wealthy that actually have sizable estates tucked away from the rabble, generally speaking, the Fairfield County most know is an utter clusterf with a crappy standard of actual living marked by road congestion, high density building, and hyper expensive housing costs. What’s funny is the same house on 10 acres in Greenwich for $15M-$25M is $2M in Farmington, Simsbury, etc.. and what they are buying is the rural tranquility and quiet that they otherwise snub their noses at. The paradox never ceases to amuse me. It’s all about getting to the City taking a 50 minute train ride.Glastonbury and West Hartford are nice towns for the area of CT that they’re in. The size of the house and yard needs change as you get older. I used to think bigger was better. But now I am widowed and the kids are all grown and married. I want something smaller than my 4 bedroom house. I keep thinking about it but procrastinate. I'll buy smaller next year. HahaWrong. It all depends on what you like. My issue with Sammis is that the majority of his plays called were focused on a handful of guys. Many on the team were frustrated (i.e. Rosa)
It could easily be ANY of the aforementioned HCs or even one not mentioned will be successful at UConn as long as we have the funds to hire a VERY solid support staff.
As someone who has spent nearly all of my 65 years living in lower Fairfield county I strongly disagree but do allow others whatever preferences they choose.Mora, Sr.?, Mora, Sr.? Are you kidding me?
