Our first guest is one of the youngest head coaches in Division I women’s basketball, and also a first-time head coach. Matt Insell was a top assistant to Matthew Mitchell at Kentucky, and at only 31 years old takes over the University of Mississippi program. It was not too long ago that Ole Miss was in the Elite Eight, under now Los Angeles Sparks head coach Carol Ross and featuring Atlanta Dream guard Armintie Price.
Our second guest inherits a program in a pretty strong position and clearly on the rise. Mike Neighbors was one of the most respected and well-known assistant coaches in the country, known for his willingness to share and exchange information, as well as his now famous lists of music and movies with various titles. When Kevin McGuff chose to leave the Huskies to go to Ohio State, Neighbors was elevated to his first head coaching job.
Meanwhile on the east coast, Suzie McConnell-Serio, former All-American, Olympic gold medalist, and WNBA coach of the year has perhaps the most daunting task of our three guests. McConnell-Serio left the success she had in the Atlantic 10 with Duquesne, including a WNIT appearance last year, to take the helm at Pittsburgh in the Panthers’ debut season of Atlantic Coast Conference play.
