New Bowl Projection

Interesting matchup for Taggart.

I thought AAC would push USF to St. Pete to ensure decent crowd at game - does that increase likelihood we end up there?

Was never really in play for UConn. Cure Bowl is out because of exams. It'll most likely be either St. Pete or Boca.

Ah man, that's a bummer. Crossing my fingers for Boca Raton against Toledo. Would be kind of a bummer to play Middle Tennessee or some other Sun Belt team, but I think we'd smoke 'em at least.

.-.
I'm pretty sure if Cure's out, I'm out.

Two road trips already this year for football. Already planning on going to the bball game against Tulane on Jan 2nd and am trying to make sure I can hit up the AAC tourney in Orlando.

I'm out if it's St Pete. The travel for an 11AM game on the 26th is just impossible.

Yeah the 22nd may be doable as I can get back for Xmas with the fam, but the 26th is just no good at all.

St Pete is an impossible trip between the time and the cost of a flight on Christmas night. If it was late day, you could have a chance to fly down in the morning, but 11:00 in the morning the day after Christmas is very hard to do. My wife let's me do a lot of away games, but I would not even try to ask about this trip.
On the other hand, I sure hope it's Boca. Plenty of bars and plenty to do there.
Go Huskies!!

We would go xmas eve and spend Christmas down there. I know that's impossible for some. But I actually like it. Liberating to not have to be locked into old traditions.

.-.
Flying into Orlando is probably easier if it's St. Pete- the drive isn't horrible if you're getting a rental already.

Was Cure the best chance to face a P5 opponent?

If so, is exams really a good enough reason to decline this opportunity to raise our profile? Couldn't the students take them at some other time? Non-athletes do this all the time.

FWIW heard rumblings of Hawaii again.. but if BYU takes a spot I'm sure that one's a no go for us.

BYU has already accepted the Las Vegas Bowl but i doubt they would send UConn to Hawaii. That may be the furthest any team could possibly travel for a football game.

Without conference team eligibility issues/chaos --- The only AAC Bowls w/ P5 opponent tie-ins are the Birmingham Bowl (SEC) and the Military Bowl (ACC) but Navy gets first dibs if bowl eligible and not playing NYD6 Bowl.

The Cure is contracted/projected as SunBelt if they have enough eligible teams.

but for that would be so worth it...

I'm really pulling for Boca right now. Flights out early Tuesday from New York to Ft. Lauderdale, then back Wednesday are running around 275 round trip. I can definitely swing that.

Then we all split a hotel room guys???? What do ya SAY

Let's do it! Dibs on a bed.

Getting some good traction on group hotel rates- four offers in Orlando ($90-165/nt), two in St. Pete ($110 or 175/nt), two in Bham ($129-169/nt) and two in Boca coming tomorrow.

Do you organize charter flights too? :)

Boca is probably my only possible option. The flights are cheap and there are a lot of them. St. Pete/Tampa after xmas is way too expensive. I would make Pinstripe/Birm/Military happen but we're not going to any of those.

Tried to do a charter back in 2009 to Detroit and that was $700/head- still get phone calls asking if I need jet service 6 years later!

Huskypantz- Orlando is only a 2 hour plus drive to St. Pete; better flight prices there.

Yeah, next you're gonna tell me that instead of sending UConn to Florida and Stanford to Arizona they'd do something stupid like send UConn to Arizona.

Yeah but I can't leave on xmas day and the game is at 11a. With a 2 hour+ drive, that means I need to land in MCO by 730am-8a.
