>>The baseball stadium’s turf will be installed in the next few weeks, Benedict said, leaving the stadium on track to open in time for the Huskies’ first scheduled home game, March 29 against Seton Hall. The soccer field is expected to be ready by the following fall, while the softball stadium will be finished for the 2021 season.
“We’re not there right now, but to be able to stand at home plate of the baseball facility, at Elliot Ballpark, you really begin to see things coming together,” Benedict said.
Baseball coach Jim Penders, in attendance for the ceremony Wednesday, said he expects new facilities will help greatly help with recruiting.
“16-, 17-, 18-year-old kids, they like stuff,” Penders said. “This is going to be state-of-the-art. There’s gonna be nobody in the Northeast that has anything even close to compare. So we’re going to stand out again, and I just can’t wait.”<<
Well Huskymedic, they did as you asked and moved the live cam ......... not what you were looking for I suspect.
protecting for the great reveal.Sliding into 2nd, 3rd and home plate on turf? That's a thing now?
Yes... and not just in the Northeast. Many college stadiums are field turf.Texas, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Oklahoma, Michigan, Tennessee etc...
At Texas & OU, its because the plains winds would literally blow away the entire infield. Storrs is windy, but it ain't that windy.
They're cheapening out. Stinks for the infielders. Nick Ahmed never gets a shot in pro ball if he's playing SS on that surface.
How do you know your coming up against a wall without the texturial difference giving you a heads up?Baylor and TAMU have dirt infields...
It would seem that plenty of college infielders who play on field turf get a shot in pro ball. Scouts can see talent.
I get the traditionalist point of view for grass all around but turf makes sense w/ the spring weather in the Northeast.
Massively thick paddingHow do you know your coming up against a wall without the texturial difference giving you a heads up?
