Hockey Arena and Mixed Use Development down by South Eagleville and 195 in the near term strategy (2015-2020)
If I recall (and it's been about a 1/2 decade), There are school sponsored graduate apartments over there, housing mostly international TAs. I know the campus has boomed, expansion wise, but they need to be careful not to displace those who choose to do their higher-higher education at UConn from overseas. With the emphasis on research, they've probably already addressed it, but still...

An extra field next to current FB practice fields, losing parking lot.
Are those Field Event areas behind Softball?
Will Frietas serve Soccer, Baseball and Softball?
Edit: probably the Burton Expansion to support the other sports.

It looks like the near term strategy is to turn the turn field into a parking lot, then in mid and long term plans have it as a track again.

How hard did it take to think of this as your post? I'm sure they will all be homeless and run back to their international countries and tell generations to follow that UConn knocked down the lousiest dorms at the school all for campus development. The horror.

Or the far more realistic alternative that they will move into one of the new dorm projects also listed.

A dorm for STEM students... nice...

They are acutally planning to build the atheltic fields on top of the parking structure.

Mansfield apartments. It actually had undergrads when I was there in 2009.

Thanks. I graduated in 1999, so yeah, things change. Don't tell that to Specialisthusky though .

The Mansfield Apartments are considered on campus housing and I lived there in 2002. Nice place and a lot of undergrads. Would be surprised if they got rid of them but there might be enough housing around campus now that they find them outdated/too costly to maintain? Or the arena is going to be next to them?

I do remember walking behind EO Smith's field and through South Parking Lot to get to campus so there's not tons of room to build unless they go further up South Eagleville from 195.

They have one of those parking garage / park deals at Yankee Stadium...

Ellsworth 6 in the house...

I had a single in either Ellsworth 6 or 8 my senior year, though I spent a lot of my time down, including lunch and dinner, at Alumni as many of my friends were there and it was closer to the (old) business building. Wanted an apartment; but, it was impossible to organize a crew the prior spring when I was studying abroad 6,000 miles away just prior to e-mail coming to campus.
