Can't argue with you. They won the votes on the court beating those teams on successive days. Those wins are a tiny bit more impressive than our wins. With Texas beating #2 and #3 on a neutral court, hard to not vote them #1.
I’d probably have
- Texas
- UConn
- So Carolina
- Michigan
- UCLA
- Maryland
- LSU
- TCU
It’s ok with me if UConn stays at one. Being number one all season is a lot of pressure. The Huskies are used to it.Can't argue with you. They won the votes on the court beating those teams on successive days. Those wins are a tiny bit more impressive than our wins.
I could see maybe making a case for this argument if Texas had blown South Carolina out of the water. However, it was a two point win and South Carolina mostly shot themselves in the foot at the end. If they had made their free throws, we would be having an entirely different conversation. I’d expect that these two teams would play each other closely, but that doesn’t say anything about how good they are in relationship to Connecticut. I don’t think that there’s anything in this game invalidates the case for UConn being number one. With Texas beating #2 and #3 on a neutral court, hard to not vote them #1.

I initially had that and then switched. UCLA has a lot of talent, as shown by the 30 point win without their star.I’d put Michigan at #4 over UCLA
This sounds right to me. Those two wins should count for something. But the reality is often that a #1 isn’t dethroned without suffering a loss. And SOS doesn’t seem to factor in as much as I tend to think it should. With Texas beating #2 and #3 on a neutral court, hard to not vote them #1.
