If you recall, the NCAA introduced NET as a replacement of sorts for the RPI and will widely be used to determine NCAA bids and seedings. The first one is out.

Here are some notes that pertain to us:

  • UConn comes in as #69 (nice). I would imagine you would want to be sub 50 to be considered a bubble team. I would say this is a fair place to be in currently, but do note that KenPom has us at #55.
  • Our best non-con opponents come in at:
    • Nova #24
    • Indiana #36
    • Xavier #71
    • Florida #78
    • Buffalo #155
    • Iona #208
  • Notable AAC teams:
    • Wichita #14
    • Memphis #16
    • Temple #49
    • Houston #68
    • SMU #88
    • Cincy #110
As of today, AAC looks like a 2-bid league with Temple squarely on the bubble. It looks like we'll need to get probably 3 wins out of Nova/Wichita/Memphis and a split with Temple at the minimum to be a strong bubble team. We do get Wichita at home and a home & home with both Memphis and Temple.

We definitely need some help from Florida in SEC play -- Auburn, Tennessee, LSU are all top-30 NET teams (and Kentucky lurking at 58 should go up). I don't trust Florida as far as I can throw them though...

With our next 3 games not much for improvement but shouldn’t really hurt us as long as we beat the spread
