Net ranking

I don’t pay much attention to all the way too early rankings and bracket predictions. It’s December 2nd. But, I saw this net thing with LSU number one. Then I read that 7of their 8 wins were against quad four teams. Can somebody help me understand this ranking? Thanks.

Note the NET ranking was designed to help with seeding at the end of the season. At that point the system will have a large volume of data. Now it doesnt. So it's early season ratings are not reliable, and frankly really shouldn't be published.

It's the equivalent of surveying 10 people and claiming that they are representative of the entire US public.

Simple answer: Nope!

Long answer: It is too early to have meaningful data, especially for teams playing cupcake schedules.

Longer answer - Duke on 12/4 is the only decent team they play in the first 14 games of their season. Their first actual competitive game is not until 2026 - New Years Day against current #17 Kentucky.
