My son’s car is a 2008 Honda Civic. For those who don’t know Honda had massive paint defects that year but did not inform the owners. They were required to fix it if you called them about but my son never realized it.
Anyway who in central Ct. or Bristol, Plainville Torrington or wherever can paint this car cheaply? has 85,000 miles on it. Can I get it done for $1500? Maaco in Manchester quoted $2400. Unacceptable.

Same with my 2008 Pilot (230,000 miles). The only reason I got rid of it was because it needed work to pass emissions and registration was coming due.

I am not sure the newer Hondas have same level of quality. I have a 2014 Pilot. Nothing major but a lot of small issues, mostly cosmetic and/or aesthetic.
2 reasons I got rid of it. Needed a catalytic converter, and I felt it wasn't worth the money to spend on it. The other reason is that it is a low sedan, and as I'm aging, it was difficult to get out of the car! Sigh

Primer Gray will work great and is less expensive. It closely matches that Gray nondescript shiny Gray Paint that is on so many new cars. He can say that he chose "flat" paint rather than "glossy" paint. And, it will still look "unfinished" and hence perhaps a less likely target parked on the street in Brooklyn.

Man y'all are like tits on a bull.

Temery has best suggestion. Check to see in HPHS or a local hs has an auto class and if they would paint the car. Tip the instructor well and he/she may assign the better students to paint it.

Maaco gave me a $2400 quote for their lower level paint job on the phone. The problem is that once I bring the car in any bit of rust, scratch or anything on the car which has no real dents will probably double that price. Until my son leaves Brooklyn streets we’ll probably let it ride for now I guess.

From what I've read online, you can get a basic, single coat with minimal prep, paint job from Macco for under $400. It won't be great, but it will cover the bare areas.

I think, given the same set of circumstances, and provided your son was interested in doing it, I might take a shot at doing a wrap. Worst case scenario you can always pull it off if it doesn't look right. But if he's decided he can live with it that's the easiest option.
