I apologize if I am repeating anything previously written.

In previous ND games Geno took a lot of criticism upon himself for failure to coach effectively. Last night I think he outcoached Muffet. Whether it be the timing of the timeouts to stop the ND mini runs, the substitution pattern, the defensive schemes, or any other coach decisions he outcoached Muffet.

Agree. Plus the team was relaxed and ready to play (after the first 8 min. or so!). ND looked tight and out of sorts. It's not always easy being the favorite.

Some of the most important coaching occurs before you ever arrive at the arena.

Good points Ades. I recall Geno saying when asked what he might have done differently in the previous ND games and one of his comments had to do with using time outs more effectively (or maybe it was saving them). Twice in the 2nd half when ND made a mini-run to cut the lead to 6, Geno took timeouts and the team promptly got the lead back up to 10-13. Not sure about outcoaching - I'm not sure there was much Muffett could do to coach her team to victory - she took her fair share of timeouts too and did lots of subbing to try to find the group of 5 that would work best against UCONN...

I think too much is made of "outcoaching."
Walz outcoached Mulkey. That's about all I'd say on the coaching front this tournament.
