ND coach meltdown

One of my favorite parts of this whole scene is how Beth Cunningham just completely hits the Ignore button on Muffet. She just looks around like nothing is happening. Owens at least tries to mumble something to calm her down

She's definitely losing it for all to see. What Owens is probably saying, "...shut the #@%* up, you're on TV"

This was the first play after halftime vs. Clemson.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from (a) expert lip-readers and (b) armchair psychologists

I saw that during the game. She looked close to tears there. Muffet did much of the same during the UConn game. I think it's becoming clearer that she misses Ivey. I've also noted that with Geno the closer the game the calmer he becomes. He also pulls players aside and explains what they did wrong immediately. Geno also tends to remain calm when the team is playing hard but they're just getting out performed. I said this before, but one wonders whether Muffet's health can endure a full season or two of this. She may have to hire a bench therapist to hold her hand by the end of the season.

Geno also has a calming influence in CD, which keeps him out of trouble.

At least she didn't throw her chair. You can't lose it like that Muffet. You embarass your team and your fans with behavior like that.
...and at least Kim Mulkey does it with flair, where's our .gif of that famous Jacket toss? I guess if you tried to do it with a "scarf" toss, it wouldn't have the same effect vs. her face planting into her palms...

and no way she matches Mulkey's distance.

Again, the assistant, not fully trusting Mulkey's aim, with the ever-so-calm double-hand shield to the face

But again, Mulkey's high-level histrionics are mostly in response to, or aimed at, the officiating. She doesn't get this kind of way with her own players.

KM's flair is matched by none. There is no sulking, mumbling under her breath with head down, etc etc. She puts it right out there! Gotta love that attitude. No ulcers with her "letting it go" persona. Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily agree with some of her antics, but there is no mistaking what she is telling the refs as well as the rest of humanity.

In the early days for sure, but you and the rest of us oldsters have noted how much Geno has mellowed. Or maybe like me he's just tired.

...and Kim will back her players as good as anyone in WCBB.

The pronation of her right wrist suggests a "screwball" toss...kind of apropos, no?
Ha, well, she did play baseball growing up in Tickfaw, Louisiana. Excellent training for regular jacket tosses and occasional first pitches at Rangers games

Speaking of meltdowns, I think when Muffet has her hands in front of her face, you can hear her utter " Oh what a world, What a world-etc"

The first wicked witch reference I've seen in a while referenced toward MM.

If the jacket hit the playing floor it would be an automatic technical I think. She was trying to keep it among the spectators.

That's what I thought when I saw that photo! How the hell can she walk up & down the sideline in those things????
Yeah, my appreciation of Kim's athleticism has gone up with those heels.

It was a technical regardless.

So the fact she was an All-American point guard, on the Olympic Team, had a daughter who was on both the Baylor Basketball and Softball teams that won National Titles and had a son who played baseball at LSU and was drafted and is now playing professionally wasn’t a clue before this picture to you? Wow, I need to make a visit to Montana to check in on you and nurse you back to health! ;)
