Not realignment, but since this is also a general college athletics board

1) Announced early so that athletes have time to transfer before the school year. Why?
"The criminal was notified he was to be arrested so that he would have time to flee the country."

2) Head coach Chris Lindauer and his staff were not disciplined, after reviews found that “the staff was not aware of gambling or the scope and extent of other troubling behaviors because team members effectively concealed such behaviors from the coaches and staff through concerted efforts.”

Laughable. If the coach didn't know or the athletes felt ok doing this, then he doesn't have control of his team.

I’ll be honest. I wasn’t even aware there was a market for betting on college swimming. Obvious red flag right there.
There isn't. They were betting among themselves regarding their times. Some of the on-line sports books had lines on the Olympic swim races this summer, but none of the ones you can access in CT.

To show how little seriousness there is is using standards like partial season suspensions depending on the amount wagered.

It's either right or wrong. This sends a stupid message. Zero tolerance.

Betting with your teammates on ncaa tourney? And if someone would cry…
They weren’t betting on March madness. They were betting on their own performance.

They knew that it was wrong, since they purposefully hid it from their coach.

Try reading the entire article. They were betting on the tournament which would have brought minor sanctions. Imagine kids betting on tournament, just awful.
