ND bowl destination to be decided by random drawing

Well played. All D1 sports, meaning Lacrosse. So the B1G is now affiliated with a DIII school?
The B1G is solid for a long long time. The average enrollment is about 40k, and that includes "only" 25k at Nebraska and 15k at Northwestern. That is BIG.

The B1G is now affiliated with one of the premier research universities in the world.

I see. I guess Northwestern and Michigan didn't fit that bill.

No, for the same reason that Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Michigan don't provide enough basketball heft, and Rutgers and Maryland and Penn State don't provide enough east coast heft. Adding JHU, as would adding UConn, made the B1G stronger.

By making the B1G stronger, you mean by joining the CIC?

ND needed a place to play ALL of their sports besides football. Swofford needed to do something to keep his conference from imploding. That was the mutual agreement. If someone offers ND a better deal (which won't happen) they would be gone tomorrow.

The fact that you believe that they have the best interest of the ACC in mind shows how clueless you & Swofford are. You are desperate for the ACC to stay intact because BC has no other options. You are thrilled to make your $20MM/yr. However, in a few years, when the SEC & B1G schools are making double that amount the schools that do have options (most likely Fla St, UNC, UVA, Va Tech & maybe others) will start to sniff around. Also the GOR will be that much closer to expiring so the schools that do have options will certainly explore.

The fact that you come to a UConn message board to defend ND confirms how desperate you are for your beloved ACC to stay intact. Don't bother replying to me anymore because you just went on ignore
Well, since I'm on your personal " ignore ", now I see no need to reply to a few points that I believe could be deemed accurate as an assessment, and a couple of others that seem misguided, highly speculative to the point of wishful thinking at best or simply wrong to me. But I'm glad you had a chance to vent your anger for yourself and that we won't be commiserating any more now that you are gone to me by your personal choice. And thats cool and all too.

I'm still waiting for those links that provide evidence that the B1G wanted Notre Dame Hockey that I know won't be coming. lol

They didn't really care about the hockey, but they wanted more winter bus trips to South Bend, Indiana.

I guess you'll have to wait a very long time for that then, as ND was never really interested in the Big 10 for their Hockey Program. ND was interested in Hockey East. They made their wishes known, and they got the Hockey East schools to approve their application for membership.

So as for ND's interest in the Big, we should just probably file this under :... ... if the phones don't ring in the Big 10 Offices, its probably ND on the other end.

I caught Yakey in a lie he can't talk his way out of. Can't take anything he posts seriously now.
the definition of a lie is the intentional act to deceive another. You are being ridiculous and silly with the claim, as well as weak with the attempt at the personal insult. But.. whatever.

"ND is a partial member of the ACC, and last year ND spurned the new BIG Hockey League..."
So, that wasn't deceiving when you stated ND spurned the new B1G Hockey League despite no evidence the B1G was interested in ND hockey?

Thats right. These are the precise words I used above ( ie, never said that ND was " invited " ) . Now,unless you want to " lie " that ND was ever interested in the BIG for Hockey even if the BIG extended an invite, this is what I said. You simply engaged here in a distinction without a difference frankly ,and accused me of " lieing " as an insult as a result. Such specious and insulting behavior replies to me define you on your posts far better than anything here I have posted to you. For the record, I did not engage in a personal insult of you on your posts to me. But... whatever.

I have no idea what your talking about, but saying nd spurned b1g hockey is as honest as saying UConn spurned the sec.

Not quite. That analogy is hyperbole alone... a reach.

A better example: If a Connecticut H.S. football recruit is being recruited by BC, but not offered yet( ie, " invited " to BC ) and does not wait for the " invite ", and instead commits to Uconn, it is entirely appropriate, accurate, and truthful to state that the recruit " spurned " BC to go to Uconn. ND, a school in a midwest state, " spurned" the midwest BIG Hockey League, and took the Hockey East invite. Furthermore, my words above should not be construed as a " lie " at all, either, as there was never any intentional quest by me to intentionally deceive, which is the classic definition of a " lie ".

Stop. Just stop.

Your analogy holds true if the B1G was recruiting ND hockey, if they were then please provide a source to support your claim; otherwise specialisthusky is spot on with his UConn/SEC analogy..

I don't want to get into all that was said in this thread about ND, the Big Ten and hockey.

But, ND never had any interest in the Big Ten for any sports, including hockey.

ND wanted into Hockey East, which 1) let ND cut its own home game TV deal with NBC Sports; 2) was/is a better hockey league and 3) gives ND additional exposure into the Northeast rather than the Midwest.

That said, the Big Ten never approached ND for hockey. There was no "recruiting" of ND for hockey by the Big Ten.

The combo of the ACC for basketball, baseball and Olympic sports and Hockey East for ND hockey is simply where ND wants to be, not in the Big Ten. It allows football to remain out of a conference. That is the main goal at ND regarding realignment.

.-.
Darn... You removed the loop of the FSU pick from your sig. I was hoping to watch that a few more times.

That didn't work out so well for the Big East.

Football is the only sport that really matters, and the ACC only got a 40% commitment. Meanwhile, Notre Dame gets to vie for ACC bowl slots and gets a portion of ACC bowl money. Great deal for Notre Dame, but I think the ACC gave too much.

ND gets no ACC bowl money except if ND goes to a minor ACC bowl. That money is then split with the rest of the ACC.

If ND is not in one of those ACC bowls, it gets no ACC bowl money (as it should not).

ND, a school located in the midwest, " never had any interest " in joining a College Hockey League located in the Midwest, principally because it knew that no invite would ever be be forthcoming from that midwest based Hockey League. So the " spurning " I suppose can be said to be mutual in retrospect. But we are really splitting hairs on this , it seems to me... a semantic verbal gymnastic meet. What is most telling is that ND did not place their Hockey program in EITHER the midwest BIG league, NOR the midwest based WCHA Hockey League. Instead it eschewed the rust belt midwest, looked 1500 miles east, and joined up with a Hockey League made up entirely of East Coast Schools, all of whom are relatively close in location to one another. ND is the only Midwest based school that is in Hockey East. ND made the decision the way all these decisions are made by all these schools in realignment, ie.. which league affords our school the best opportunity moving into the future decades to get the best return of financial investment. These are the things that we fundamentally take away from ND's decision to accept the Hockey East's invite to them.

This is factually correct, from my understanding as well

You're trying to drive logic into this. We're talking about Notre Dame here... "Our lady" is in no way driven by logic, except when it suits her; then it appears logic-driven by pure happenstance.

Now, money suits her very well, so you may have a point there.

This will not be random. ND get the Pinstripe Bowl. Louisville will get a Tier 1 as will Duke. Clemson gets the Russell Athletic Bowl leaving the last for either BC or NCST. Maybe they will flip a coin for those two.
Actually, according to reports, they'll be no " flip of the coin " by any school in the ACC as all are assured a Bowl Game berth that are Bowl Game eligible.

What IS being reported however is that at least 2, ..possibly 3 ..BIG Schools that are Bowl Game eligible are now being advised to esssentially go begging and pleading to make their case to the Bowl Committes in a desperate last minute PR campaign as to why they should not be left home and their players left out of a Bowl Game. It looks like at least 1 BIG team wished there was at least" a coin to flip". Its much easier and less time consuming to" flip a coin" than to mount a time consuming BIG begging campaign.

Well Wisconsin would have won anyway... but if things look bad it will turn for them.

Yawkey sure is jealous of the B1G by his statements on this thread.

Haha!...... funny, silly you...So which BIG Bowl eligible team that will reportedly have to go begging and pleading to the Bowls, so as not to have their players stay home during the Bowl season, should I be " jealous of " ?

What about an undefeated ACC Champion having to beg and plead to get into the CFP?

All I know is Maryland wanted out of the ACC and into the B1G so bad that they willingly spent $30 million to do so.
