I can't see how "pods" of four won't develop in the future. (That would require expansion to 16 members.) There's also Rutgers and Maryland. Set up to lose. The powers either need to be in the same pod or spread out. I'd say putting them in their own pods is the way to go.

(ECU’s Mike Houston) came from D II. I have repeatedly said we should hire the entire staff of the winningest FCS team once we fired Edsall.

Potentially when/if a coaching change occurs at some future point, a successful FCS may make sense. However, Houston left Div II several years ago, coached the Citadel (FCS) for a year or 2, and then won an FCS national title in a few years at James Madison being accepting 2 separate FBS offers last off-season.

Your reasonable point remains; successful coaching track records at any level offer prospective upside potential.
