The NCAA site has the 2011-2012 attendance numbers posted. I know attendance was discussed a few weeks ago but the NCAA figures for individual schools had not been posted.

Of note - UTenn got a huge boost in attendance undoubtably in response to Summitt's announcement
and Delaware benefitted from the EDD factor as their attendance broke the top 50. They were 26th in D1 averaging just under 4,000 a game. That ranked them 2nd behind UTenn in attendance increase from the previous year.

Despite NCAA press releases crowing about attendance records, overall D1 attendance was stagnant, losing an average of 8 fans per game.

UCONN dropped to 4th - a pretty distant 4th - behind Tenn, L'ville, and Iowa State. UCONN was just over 9,000 per game.

One significant upside: the Big East has 3 of the top 5 schools in average attendance. Not too shabby, even if we would like the numbers to be higher.

I'd be interested in seeing the figures on gate receipts...I think UCONN is using a different pricing strategy than Tennessee.

True. but the next BE school is 35th Depaul and 51st RU.

Also have to look at athletic foundation donations. Face for UConn WBB tickets is $25 (and a lot of lower bowl say $15 on them), but in order to get good seats without scalping, you have to donate to Uconn Club. I imagine there's an analogous process at Tennessee as well, but what the revenues are would be interesting to compare.

Not as huge of a gap in terms of the ACC..... only two schools averaged above 5,000.......... then about 5 in the 2,500-4,000 range.

RU has definitely fallen off..... RU averaged less than that WCBB powerhouse of the South... VPI :p

Home of the Fighting Gobblers?

Hey, they were the only team to stay within single digits of the 2001-02 Huskies.

You'd fight, too, if you knew what they do to Hokies.
