NCAA Trivia Question: the Vengeful Women of Storrs

This year the UConn guys got their March Madness campaign kicked off with a win over St. Joseph's, the school that the women's team will be playing on Tuesday to surely complete the first twin-killing of a school in UConn history.

Three times before, UConn teams have both played the same college in the same year in the tourney. In 1990 the men beat Clemson in the famed Scott Burrell-Tate George throw-catch-shoot game five days after the Tiger women took an opening round game from the Huskies.

But there were two years when the UConn men were knocked out of the tourney by certain teams and then their womenfolk swore vengeance on the counterparts of those schools and went out and mercilessly destroyed them or otherwise crushed their hopes.

What were the years and what were the schools?

You got it. Yes, there is the Orange, but also of course the use of UT for both schools by an occasional poster here, when properly it should be used for neither and reserved for any discussion of the Utes. The men in 2003 lost a tough one down in Texas, and in 2000 they lost in the round of 32 to UTenn.
