NCAA Transfer Portal - The process

To have and to have lost...

Started as a Rutty commit...then his brother is booted from Rutty for credit card theft. Then finds a home with Maryland, signs (almost went to Louisville) and enrolls only to leave midway through this fall (havent looked to see if there is a publicly known reason). Then finds a home at Memphis, following his brother again, only to have to bail on that plan because his brother's scholarship appears to have been pulled for 2020 (again not sure if the reasons why are publicly known.

@huskymedic - Tyler was Memphis bound? I lost track. Something toxic here. The weird part is that Brendan was poised to be a Husky until that very late offer from Rutty.

Switching gears - story below on Blackshear. I wonder if this kid is visiting this weekend. We were seriously in the hunt back in 2016. Rob King is his old HS teammate. On twitter he's connected with Edsall, Weiss, Zyskowski and Ryan Steinberg who typically gets involved on twitter only with kids that visit or arrange to visit (not a hard rule, but a general observation).

Reading the tea leaves...while UConn reached out, it appears Blackshear might have found a new home at Virginia Tech. This kid has NFL ability.

Knew he wasn't coming here, but he would've been dominant if he did.

Malik Barrow - reunited with Shady who was his DC at Ohio State - now at Rutty for a final year. What's weird is what happen to Barrow at UCF in 2019 where he played four games and then sat?

Sacred Heart grad DE finds an offer almost instantaneously with Richmond....

here’s a three star NJ linebacker trading down from BC to Rhode Island.

Maybe someday he'll recognize that following his brother may not be in his best interests? Or is blood that important to his life?

After one year at K-State, Logan Wilson is moving on. Corey and Randy made a big effort for this corner last year. He looked like a UConn lean until K-State came along. Note sure we could/should invest in a kid that would have to sit a year.

Corey and Logan started following one another again.

Burby dropping down to URI from Rutty. CT kid.

Btw - Some other UConn portal kids also seem to be in URI sights.

URI about to make some noise at the FCS level

Logan Wilson (2019 corner from TX) will transfer from K-State to Louisiana Monroe. He will have to sit a year. Wilson was a UConn lean until K-State game in late in the process in dec 2018.

Here's a potential GS OL transfer that could help us no doubt

Does Temple’s top DE opting for the portal signify a coaching problem? Probably not- just illustrates our initial portal fears; G5 talent leaving to move up to P5.

And "lesser" P5 programs losing talent to "greater" P5 programs. Newman has been Wake's starter for two years now.

It’s a new shiny toy and kids want to play with it...

I’m interested in seeing the final tally of kids who entered the portal this year in comparison to the first year. Sure seems like many more but it could just be the social media aspect painting that picture.

It would be especially interesting to see where the UConn kids end up. Someone posted that the first three commitments were to FCS schools but that's a small sample.

If there are 20 and all or almost all end up at FCS that may be disheartening to the Diaco crowd.

hmmmm.... King and Blackshear were HS teammates
