NCAA announced that the entire 62 team field Women's
Tournament field will held in San Antonio, Texas. Tournament will take place between March 21 and April 4.

It will be very interesting..

A total of 6 courts(5 venues will be used):

2 courts at Alamodome
St. Mary's U
U of Texas
Texas State U
UTSA Convocation Center
..........Starting with the Sweet 16, all games will be in San Antonio at the Alamodome

I REALLY hope they allow some fans (safety first) because it's only a couple hours and I might just Airbnb a place to go to as many games as I can!

Same. We will be there on 03/31. Hoping my daughter gets the ticket hookup! And fulfill my mom's wish for her birthday!

Awww...I hope so too! If we both make it there, we can wave at each other. Hahaha

If I read the announcement correctly, the first round games will be played in
Austin and San Marcos as well as San Antonio.

Thanks. I was wondering. I know the men's tournament is going to be in Indiana but spread out. Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding I had about the women's tournament.

I really like the no-dithering format.
Play every other day.

Let the best-conditioned teams be advantaged.

I predicted that a month ago. Like Geno, they must read the Boneyard too. ;)

Well they did at least shave 2 days off the timeline.

Also, after the first round, the venues change from the 6 to just the 4 in San Antonio. Seems disruptive for teams to have to travel and switch arenas between round 1 & 2. Why not just wait one more round?

Well, the NCAA announced over 7 weeks ago that it would be held in one area. They also said that they have been negotiating with sites in the San Antonio area. So, now they have made it official.

Unless there are hotel capacity issues in S Ant, I'm surprised they're not having games at D1 Incarnate Word.

My daughter said they are hosting the first round

San Antonio is GREAT! Lots to do in and around the city. If you have never been there, give it a try. You wont regret it. Don't miss the "River Walk" and "The Alamo". Texans are great people!

GO HUSKIES!!!

Uhh, see Monte's post.
Or the link to NCAA.
Yes, but the original announcement in the San Antonio paper did list them and another location as well that did not make the final cut.

San Marcos is between San Antonio and Austin, so this all makes sense. Done those drives many a time with family in Austin.

In addition to the tournament games being on ESPN channels and app, ABC is going to broadcast some of the games.

I wonder if the top seed get the Alamo dome in the first 2 rounds. Seems like it would be an advantage to play in the same arena through out.

I wonder how many Big East schools will make the field of 64? (I think 5 teams from the Conference will get in - UCONN, Marquette, Seton Hall, DePaul, and Villanova.)

More I think about, more I'm thinking there's not enough hotel rooms for 64 teams in round 1, thus the expansion to Aust & San Marcos.

I'm guessing this is how it will go:

St Marys & UTSA will have 4 games each day in round 1 (4 games x 2 sites x 2 days=16), with the winners advancing to round 2 at those sites (2x,2x2=8).
Austin, San Marcos, and the Alamodomex2 will have 2 games each day in round 1 (2x4x2=16). Then the winners will advance to Alamodomex2 (2x2x2=8).

This will keep the STM & UTSA teams at the same arenas and hotels for rounds 1 & 2.
Only the 8 Austin & San Marcos winners will travel and have to play in a different site for round 2.
